I believe Ben McDonald was the last to actually play 2 major sports with one of those including basketball. The other of course was baseball (not football like a certain unnamed genius above stated). But he didn’t do it his whole time at LSU. I think only 1 season maybe; but someone may be able to correct me on that as I was only about 10 at the time.

Not sure who the last to play football and basketball would have been as that would be extremely tough. Marcus Spears was going to attempt to and even practiced some with the basketball team; but he ended up realizing it was just too much for him and decided to focus on football. For those that don’t remember, he was an all-state basketball player coming out of high school and some even considered it to be his better sport. Of course he played TE in h.s. football and didn’t switch to defense till at LSU.

From Official LSU bio:
JUNIOR SEASON (2000):
Turned in cleats for basketball shoes in January and played in five games for the LSU men's basketball team before retiring from the sport in late January ... In five games with the basketball team, played 37 minutes and scored 10 points (2.0 per game) to go along with six rebounds (1.2 per game).

Back in my LSU athletic days, I recall a young man by the name if Chris Carrier who played 2 sports. The basketball team was short handed due to a breakout of the flu.
