Collins and Hill will be early commits to LSU.
I'm glad someone said this. I'm hoping that we can get the top recruits from La. in the fold early so they can help persuade a few key OOS recruits to jump on the bandwagon (ala Russell Shepard). We'll pass on some in-state prospects next year that would have gotten an offer in most other years. It would probably be a good year to play the "greyshirt" card.

Well I said that based on articles I've read about them wanting to commit in March right after signing day and I thought they were both pretty much locks......Hope that USC really is too far away and Collins chooses to stay home.

don't know much about the OL from Redemptorist, but Rasco and Landry have to be up there ..it's such a good group on the top end that it'll be interesting to see
Landry is as good looking of a WR as the state has had in a long time...but with that said he falls into the 6' category so maybe his upside can be viewed as limited
Rasco will be very highly coveted because he is so explosive and the DE position is a crucial position... he may very well have more offers than anyone in the state next year

So what you're saying is that the distance from home will eventually dim that light and Urban is a douche (like that's news to anyone).....
....in the end, do you expect him to be at LSU?
I can't imagine him not wanting to play in front of us. So yes in the end I think that will happen with USC.I'm a die hard LSU fan, so I'm going to do my best to get him there. But I can't say for sure cause it's his decision. But we'll be there to help him make the right one and for me that's LSU.

If you're going to continue to post here, remember. Take everything with a grain of salt. Like you obviously know, already......you saw what happened with dmitch. That dude's a trooper.
Keep us updated.

That right there is the majority of out class for 2011. I think we take around 17 next year so that leaves 10 spots.
8) Flowers
9) L. Liggins
10) Alonzo Lewis
Those are two more to add to the list.

tigerjag,
you know what needs to be done

Reports have just been fairly positive. I would think LSU or UT.

Teams with the first offer are usually held in high regard. Regardless of them being fairly poor on the field, A&M has definitely improved on the recruiting front since Sherman has gotten there and he's "an NFL OL guy." I know, so is Miles, but you get my point......
LSU, UT, A&M
LSU, UT, A&M

Believe me when I say USC.
I hope the distance from home plays a factor. Urban might be shady but he's nothing compared to the USC boosters. Look how many recruiting investigations they've had.

Kinda early to be trying to persuade people, no?

He needs a good seat for Florida or Auburn game this year. A game like the 2007 Florida game and he'll be hooked.

Landry would be the top player in the state this year and will be a top 40 prospect, but you never rank a 5'11" WR with 4.6 speed over a guy who could be the top rated DT in the country.
There isn't much film on Rasco or even Johnson out there compared to many of the others, so in a way I'm just going off of the hype they are receiving (which I hate to do).
Alonzo Lewis could be top 5, but I'm not going to put him up there with zero film on him.

everyone seems to be so jubiliant about the 2011 class. sure it is a good one but is it that much better than the 2009 class. lets take a look.
10 rivals rankings 09 10 class
randle #2 collins
jackson #17 rasco
davenport #25 landry
faulk #47 johnson
ford # 59 hilliard
lacy # 116 hill
sentmore #126 slyvie
mingo # 155 lewis
downs #161 ????
Is 2011 really that much better than 2009?

Johnson is a much better prospect than Faulk, IMO.
Hilliard/Ford are a toss up after their Soph campaigns.
Rasco is better than Jackson.

Some others to look out for will be Chucky Hunter from West Monroe, Rod Davis from Many, and the two quarterbacks from the Baton Rouge area Stevie Douglas and Zack Oliver. I don't know if any of those guys, with the exception of maybe Hunter, would be Rivals 250 guys, but they seem like they will be big recruits.

You have a point but I think the excitement is a combination of how early the 2011 La. kids have been targeted (their legitimacy already being verified by verbal offers from LSU), and the fact that there are always others that surface. I mean they haven't even played their Jr year and that is when most prospects for 2011 will be identified, so in all probability there should be 3-4 more "elite" recruits.
If you took a look at your list, only Randle, Davenport, Ford, and Lacy were really identified and talked about at this point in their respective HS careers, compared to about 7-8 kids for 2011. Jackson, Faulk, Sentimore, Mingo, and Downs picked up steam mostly from their Junior year on. JMO but I think there are some that haven't been discovered quite yet.

it's hard to think Landry would not be in the Top 3 in any year... just goes to show you the quality at the top end of next year's class
but still, there is no way there are 3 better prospects than Landry in the state... he's probably the best WR to come out of Louisiana since I can remember
