For those who follow recruiting closely, what's the background here? I assume we didn't want him. But he was the LA POY in 2016 and seems to have good measurables. More curious than anything else.

Who do you give up? Brennan or Narcisse?

Great player in high school. Guess we only had 2 spots and got in late with the transition.
We did very well with the 2 freshman QBs on the team.

Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse

He wasn't much of a prospect until he blew up his senior season.
Props to Mullen who got on him early his junior year when he was meh, Thompson was a MONSTER his senior season. Just blew everyone out, even through the playoffs.
We were focusing on 1 DT and 1 pro style and we really wanted Narcisse for that DT spot. Narcisse was the big time national recruit from the state, not Thompson. Unfortunately for Narcisse he wasn't able to play much at all his junior and senior seasons and dropped in rankings, meanwhile Thompson bleww up senior year and vaulted way up the rankings. I think the 2 are very comparable, but Thompson specifically is just a natural fit for Mullen's offense. He is going to be much better than Fitzgerald once he gets his chance. IT's going to be another Dak situation IMO, but he wouldnt be what he will be at State here at LSU. We got who we wanted in Brennan and NArcisse.

additionally, Thompson developed into a much greater prospect relatively later in his career. He showed a ton as a senior that he hadn't before.

Ah, very dumb question on my part. I was thinking he was a 2016 recruit, but should have realized he played in 2016 and thus was a 17 recruit.

Not the first time Mullen saw something in a QB that LSU didn't.

Actually, KTs ratings slowly declined after he committed to MSU.
Barton Simmons said he looked bad at the Opening or Elite 11 or whatever so they dropped him to a mid 3 star and wouldn't re rate him after his absurd SR year on the field.
