Turpin is in the right place. He would have been underutilized at LSU with their scheme and is a great fit for TCU's offense.

Has nothing to do with the offensive system, right?

You know what... let's do this another way.
Why didn't TCU offer Derrius Guice? Or Tre'davious White?

Lol Patterson cooled on them, or they were grade risks, maybe already filled those positions

Still think we shouldn't haveoffered this kid???
We absolutely should have offered him. But that doesn't mean he would have been a Tiger. He made a good decision picking TCU. Wish him the best. He's a sick talent.

He did not get tcu offer till he was mvp in dome final. Its a perfect fit for him but lsu should have offered. He is a very unique player and he is just getting started.

Yeah I really thought he would be at Tech. TCU came in very late and scooped him up.

I got blasted in one thread for saying we should have offered him instead of Brandon Martin.

Texas had a LB covering him on 2 of those TDs. I bet no one makes that mistake again. TM7 was undersized too.
On a side note, I heard Turpins brother is dressing with the varsity as a 9th grader at Neville.

His brother peanut is pretty good if he stays out of trouble

We could not tackle him last year. He had to score 4-5 times at least.

I'm glad Derrick Dillon is here at LSU, but he has to be kicking himself seeing how good Grier is throwing the ball right now. He 1st committed to Florida because LSU wanted him at DB.
True freshman Callaway (3 star WR) is already 3rd on the team at Florida with 12 rec for 202 yards and 2 TDs. That's better than any LSU WR in all statical categories. Dillon is supposedly getting redshirted while the LSU WRs are dropping passes left and right, and not putting in much effort.
Which brings me to another thing. Why are we even in a discussion of possibly bringing in four WRs? I've seen this by Jimmy and several people on here. I've heard the excuse that there aren't many local talents at WR next year and plenty this year. So what??? We've gotten so many WRs that we've converted one to FB, another went JUCO, one is most definitely getting redshirted, and we have yet to "officially" (McNeese St game is erased), see three others take the field to catch a pass. None of those include the 5 that have caught a pass this year, Guice, who lines up in the slot a little, or any of the three receiving TEs. We already have committed, two 6'3+ WRs this year and another 6'5 receiving TE. We are throwing 15 passes a game, and I doubt we throw more than 20 at any point this year, unless Fournette doesn't dominate.
Unless people are expecting a mass exodus of pass catching options leaving LSU after next year, it doesn't make any sense. Even if we lost 3-4 WRs this year, it still wouldn't make sense.

I heard an apt quote from Trevone Boykin on Turpin during the TCU-KSU game.
TCU notes: Freshman Turpin solidifies breakout role with team
Twitchy is a good adjective to describe Turpin.
Turpin is the kind of player that I think would thrive in a complementary role in the LSU Offense (particularly in creating mismatch opportunities vs. big LBs), running jet sweeps, other misdirection plays, stretching the D east to west, catching passes out of the backfield, lining up in the slot, etc. A little twitchy guy like Turpin adds a different element that even a lot of fast guys don't have.
But it looks like he found a good spot at TCU.

“Turp’s got the juice right now,” quarterback Trevone Boykin said. “He’s just so fast and quick and twitchy. You just really try to get that guy the ball in open space and watch him make moves.”

Would it really shock anyone if one or more transferred after this season?
Hopefully, what we saw in the passing game against USC will continue, but I just have a hard time seeing everyone staying put without us throwing and completing more passes than we have been USC game excluded.

Martin will probably play more at WR than Turpin would have if he makes it here.
Turpin just doesnt fit with what we want out of our WRs. Kind of like Derrick Dillon. I dont know if that guy will ever be much of a factor here. Probably should have went to a spread scheme like Kirk Merritt did if he wanted a lot of catches and to get involved early on. Dillon is a big time talent too.
