Would you rather pick up JT Daniel or have an extra spot for recruiting. I can see positives in both scenarios.
I have yet to see any result that says we need to get JT Daniels other than his former 5* recruit status. His stat line is not good.

If Parish doesn’t return I think we’ll take two QB in 21. I say bring him in and one QB in 21.
I’m with this guy. Swap Daniels for Parrish. He gives you a solid backup and if Brennan does well this year and decides to leave for the NFL he’s a potential starter in 2021. That gives the two incoming freshman another year to develop so that their not thrown to the wolves if they’re not ready.
I don’t see much downside to adding to the QB position.

I don’t think his stat line was bad. He was a true freshman that was supposed to still be in high school and he played behind an awful O-line that fired their coach mid season. That team as a whole was awful. He still completed 60% of his passes and threw for 14 TDs.

And nobody has ever been Burrow at the college level he’s the GOAT and he was a 5th year senior and finally got to play in the offense that fit him. Sometimes all it takes is for preparation
key point.
burrow was not a 5th year senior.
he graduated in 3.
i heard his interview early on. im here to prepare to play pro football.
he didnt go to class.
did masters by internet over the two years.
spent the time not in class with coaches.
no undergrad transfer can do that.

He was a 5th year senior playing wise. That’s my point. He was in college football for 5 years.

Worse case scenario would be to have a 5 star highly rated QB with starting experience and 3 years eligibility as a backup. That should be considered a great situation.

Hard to compare JT Daniels to Shea Patterson. Shea became the actual starter as a sophomore at the age of 20. JT Daniels started as a Freshman at the age of 18. The dude is only 20 now. BIG TAKE

That's if Daniels would be willing to transfer fulling understanding he could and likely would be a backup for 1-2 years. That's not going to happen. He's leaving USC for a chance to be a starter right away (plus the fact that the CA governor is suggesting there may not be any college football as we know it in CA). Just like Burrow, he's not going to come to LSU simply to "try to win the job". He could have stayed at USC and tried to win that job. He will decide to go to a place where the coach has told him, at minimum, it is his starting job to lose.
And if he were to come to LSU your scenario wouldn't be realistic because Brennan would almost assuredly leave.
The Burrow signing clearly shows the coaching staff has earned the benefit of the doubt. If they think Daniels is (likely) significantly better than Brennan AND they think he can get up to speed on the LSU offense despite the severe restrictions on practice time, workouts and other organized team activities, then you sign him and don't worry about hurt feelings and the fall out. But if you have concerns about that, then you probably should go with Brennan.
Maybe the whole Daniels and LSU think is PURE sportswriter conjecture with no legs whatsoever. But we do have to acknowledge that on at least two occasions Ed has shown he may not have all that much confidence in Brennan. When Ed was named the permanent HC one of the very first things he did was push to try to get Tua to give a strong look at LSU, even though Brennan had long been committed to LSU. And even though Tua showed no indications of wanting to decommit from Bama. That caused Brennan to briefly decommit until Tua made it clear he was going to Alabama. Remember, Brennan committed to Miles, not Ed. The second was, obviously, following the 2018 spring. Brennan was the presumptive starter AND had some significant playing time in 2017 (Syracuse, Troy). Yet, Ed went out and signed a QB who had virtually no significant experience (other than mop-up duty) to come in very late in the offseason to become LSU's starting QB. That decision may have been the best personnel decision in the history of LSU football. So I wouldn't be surprised if Ed would think that same approach could work again.
