Former High school teammate of Garrett Nussmeier. Long, tall, fast X receiver with good hands. Polished player who has dealt with some bad QB play but still has 123 career catches. Was freshman All American 2 years ago at Cal when he had 65 catches-800 yards-7 TDs

1 year of eligibility left. But I would say he is a take if we can get him.

I honestly could see this as a no Brainerd for Sturdivant. Getting to finish his college career with his HS QB who would give him a lot of chances at catches. I think if we could get 2 or 3 of Barion Brown, Micah Hudson, Nic Anderson, and Michael Sturdivant if could change the direction of this offense for next year.

Curious if a lot of these Wr and Te will decide after Garrett makes a decision.
If he leaves, they want to know who their qb is.

Wow, what happened to this kid?? I remember after the 2022 season and heading into 2023 he was popping up on some "way too early" mock drafts, as a decently high pick, and was viewed as pretty likely to be an early-declare guy--given that he put up 65/755/7 (12g) as a redshirt freshman--but since then he's steadily fallen off: 36 catches for 597yds and 4TD (13g) in 2023, then only 22 catches for 315yds and 2TD (11g) this past season.
If he wants to come here to be a depth piece then okay fine, that's a solid take - but he's absolutely not the type of guy to whom we should be promising a starting spot (unless we're convinced that there's some clear reason for the dropoff that can be eliminated). For one thing, we already have 3-4 guys who project as solid starters at the least (hilton, anderson, thomas, parker), so if he's "just solid" then the upgrade will be minimal. And for a second thing, our underclassmen bunch of WR is RAZOR thin--basically just kylan billiot and jelani watkins in yr2 and taron francis and phillip wright in yr1--so if we think those two rising sophomores have any chance of turning into real players, we really cannot afford to lose potentially multiple years of them--because at least one of them is likely to bounce if/when we bring in a starting WR from the portal--in exchange for one year of Sturdivant, who probably isn't even much of an upgrade, if at all, in the first place. Now, if we think hilton is going to leave or we're going to have attrition to that top group in some other form, then okay, maybe he's a take. But even then I'm not sure you want him to be your Plan A (or even necessarily your Plan B).
Bottom line: (1) It's risky to bring in one-year guys if your cupboard of underclassmen isn't well-stocked; and (2) if you do bring in a one-year guy (and thus risk losing some underclassmen as a result), it should at least be a guy with considerable upside.

To be fair, UCLA had a coaching change and his OC was there for a one year only contract and runs a decently complex offense.
We saw what the kid can do early on and if Nuss comes back, LSU's offense is significantly better than what UCLA has.

absolute take...drop the bag....let's get on with this show. I'm tired of watching others sign players.

He's definitely good and UCLA has produced several NFL receivers.
