You think Rasco is a LSU lock?
Posted on 2/20/10 at 3:22 pm to LsuTool
Doesn't Saban tell everyone that they would fit their Jack/Hybrid role? I think I believe hearing the same damn thing about Justin Maclin last year... I just hear the same argument every single WDE hears
Posted on 2/20/10 at 3:25 pm to chunn
Maclin was recruited for the WLB spot. But yes, we've signed several guys, and recruited others, that were mentioned for the Jack role. Some stay there, others move to other spots.

I think Brick Haley is a good coach and after our D line gets after people like LSU fans are used to seeing, the LSU D line will be a lot more attractive.
I do think that Rasco is a lock not to go to Bama. That might just be my homerism thinking that La kids know better though.

I guess Alabama should just quit recruiting him now, huh?
Look, I don't think he's going to end up at Alabama, but he looks like he'll certainly give Alabama and Texas a hard look.

Everybody needs to wake up and realize that most of these guys are gunna be in a Alabama/LSU battle...Nick knows the state well and will push them hard..Them taking a visit is just the first of many visits,in home visits, games, ect.that the guys will be doing with other schools in particular Bama..FWIW Rasco and Hill aint the only one there right now

I think with that kind of turnaround, you have to throw Pelini's name up there... at least in consideration.

When is the last time a big La recruit went to Alabama that LSU really wanted?
If Eddie Lacy is the best you got then
and yes, you should give up. They might go to Texas, maybe even Auburn or Tenn, but not Bama.

We'll just have to wait and see.

You guys panicking need to understand that his is Bama's last jr.day and LSU has another.(I've been told March 20th not 27th)These kids we're talkng about will be at the next one.If Rasco doesn't come after going to Texas and Bama then take that as a sign that we are not in a good spot with him. That said he'll be here the next jr. day.Hill will also.Collins went to the first Bama jr. day and Hill isn't going to any school unless he goes also.Washington has already said that he was going to Bama this week and LSU the 20th of March. That's where i got the 20th and not the 27th.Washington said he was coming for the 2nd jr day on March 20th.These kids are going to go see Bama(who wouldn't if given the chance)Bama is not going to be a major threat for any of our guys except for Sylve(he has them 2nd but they still won't threaten us).It doesn't make sense to have a jr. day on the same day as the spring game.Way too much going on that day to be worried about a bunch of recruits being on campus and taking the chance that they don't get the attention they want.If anyone can confirm that the 2nd jr. day is the 27th then please let me and others know.I'm not saying you guys are wrong but it doesn't make sense for Washington(our top db prospect) to think that the jr. day is on the 20th if it's not.Could have changed or maybe he got confused.Don't read Bama sites. They feel they will get everybody. Will do nothing but cause you grief. There are some good guys over there but most will tell you they will get anybody they want. Our guys aren't going there.

The guy that said they are recruiting for LSU in jest is probably right.Kids do this all the time.In Hill's case it is very likely that's what he's doing. He's not decommiting,so it makes sense for him to be recruiting for LSU.Maybe he wants to see Bama also but he could still be talking LSU to ther kids we are on.Bama will not have enough space for our kids anyway. They will not have room at RB for Hill and Rasco is just not going there to sit behind all those Jacks they have(this is a part joke).Alfy Hill and Adrian Hubbard are at least 2 from this past class.DE in their system doesn't fit Rasco.

I hope Aluuh-Bama does recruit the hell out of Rasco. I hope they spend countless hours talking to him, calling him, visiting him, texting him, and writing to him. I hope they spend so much time on him that they neglect other kids. Because in the end, Rasco will be at LSU.
And, Nick Saban has done very poorly in the state of LA (accepting LSU's rejects). And, I don't say that to degrade Lacy and Sentimore. They may turn out to be great star football players, but there were better prospects in LA the year they were recruited. Louisiana coaches have no love for Nick Saban. I can promise you. With all the years that Saban spent in LA, he should be able to come in here and pluck the best right from under LSU's nose…but you don’t see it happening do you? And, it’s not going to.
Why? Because Nick Saban used up all his political capital and good will with LA H.S. coaches when he pulled the Miami and then to Bama stunt. These high school coaches are Louisianan’s first (most LSU fans) and only dream about coaching for the money Saban's made. Saban is viewed as a traitor to LSU.
Ever see the original movie "The Longest Yard"? Well, Nick Saban is the Paul Crewe (Burt Reynolds) of Louisiana. In the movie, the character Paul Crewe was a pro QB that got caught fixing a game he was playing in and betting against his own team...a traitor..."It's un-American to fix a football game" so the move quotes from the Caretaker (an inmate/fellow prisoner with Crewe in the movie). And, to most of these coaches, Saban is just as much traitor and "un-Louisianan" as Crewe was un-American in the movie. This is why Saban will never enjoy much success recruiting LA talent.
Both Lacy and Sentemore had grade issues that meant they might not have qualified. And, thus, that could have been two wasted scholarships that Les could have given to sure thing academic qualifiers. Each one of these scholarships have a certain time cost to them. And, you can't recover the time that was lost in May, if kid that does not qualify, back to the previous February. Everyone worth having signs their LOI in Feb. so you have a year before you can recover from academic attrition.
Miles figured it wasn't worth the chance for Sentimore and Lacy. Saban took a chance and luckily came out on top. However, that is the oddball year. And, LSU owns the state of LA when it comes to football talent. The days of Bear Bryant coming into LA and asking if a kid wants to play for a "Championship Team" and have a chance to win a Championship are OVER!!!!!!!!
LSU has TWO to Bama's one in the last decade and that's as far back as high school kids care to remember and it's all that matters. When the word starts getting out that Saban rescinds/cancels players scholarships/kicks them out of the program for the next class’ best and brightest (and that's how he can sign 28+ scholarship athletes a year) Rasco, or any kid with any sense that is not from ALUUH-Bama, won't want anything to do with Bama or Nick Saban. Saban is dirty. You can cover shite in whipped cream and chocolate, but in the end you’re still eating shite. And, that is what Saban is...plain unethical.
LSU will have a much better recruiting class this year than Bama and the "Gumps" can see it already. That's why they are trying to play this doubt game on LSU fans. In 2011 Alabama’s instate top prospects are few and far between. That’s why they are hitting MS, GA, and FL so hard now. Add in the Auburn affect in 2011 and Bama’s class will be poor if the out of state kids don’t commit to “Little Nicky”.

LSU signed 4 WRs in last class and plans for another 3 in this? 3 RBs and 3 for next class already committed...6 in two classes.
Ware and Gore will the only true backs from the 2010 class IMO.
Running backs (Hypothetically by the time Hill, Hilliard and Magee hit the field):
Ford(09 Junior)
Gore (10 Sophomore)
Ware (10 Sophomore)
Hill (11 Fresh)
Hilliard (11 Fresh)
Magee(11 Fresh)
Looks crowded but not too bad to me.
Wide Receivers:
Rueben Randle (09 Senior)
Jhyryn Taylor (09 Senior)
Chris Tolliver (09 Soph)
Armand Williams (10 Soph)
James Wright (10 Soph)
Kadron Boone (10 Soph)
Jarrett Fobbs (10 Soph)
Alonzo Lewis (11 Fresh)
Jarvis Landry (11 Fresh)
Again seems crowded, but I don't think that depth will be too big of a problem. I think that we are done with recruiting RB's (we obviously still have offers out there), and I personally think that we should stop recruiting WRs now. Just my opinion.
