The current limit of 25 new scholarships (or financial aid agreements) per academic year became an absolute limit, eliminating the oversigning phenomenon.
15.5.6 Football Limitations.
15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial counters) in football at each institution.

Keep reading. There's a section that clearly states you can count guys enrolling in January in the current class or the next class. This is what is commonly referred to as "backcounting".
The 25 player limit went into effect many years ago.
It's dumb we're still having this conversation. Just look at last year's signing classes and see all the teams that took more than 25 guys. Or just wait until February and see how many this year sign over 25. I guarantee you Alabama will be one of them.

They had 22 commits laat year, so they can take 28 this year

I have no comment on grey shirts.

Typical Bama shite. These kids probably told Bama staff long ago.

They are just deep at every position including the lines. No team can match that kind of depth. They rotate 5 star guys while we rotate 3 star guys.
We've played teams that don't even begin with 3* guys and still got handled (Wisconsin and Troy come to mind). Coaching is a factor and can equalize some of the talent gap.

I don't remember what section it's in, but it's definitely in there.
Nothing I commented on has anything to do with greyshirting. In GS, the kid pays his own way and doesn't actually sign until the following year. I don't think the ncaa could ever eliminate this. If a kid wants to, and is capable of paying their own way in order to go wherever they want, why should the governing body have a say in that?

I want rebels and usurpers..guys who want to take down Darth Vader and not join the evil empire. There are great athletes with simple minds and followers. We need great athletes who think with their own minds and want to be a part of a new something special. They are out there..got to grab them before A&M, UGA, UF, Oky, Texass, USC, TheOSU etc. etc. get them!

Ale Kaho transfer to Alabama this year. He should count toward their 2018 signing class correct? If so they leave them signing 27.

Yeah I get it... Kids don't want to earn it by helping build a program. They just want to ride the success of a program already championship caliber.
What the frick kind of thinking is this? That's like declining a job from the top employer in your field to join the 10th best employer in order to climb the ranks - a decision no adult actually makes if given the choice.
Look, Alabama has been beaten by less talented teams every year but this one. There is no reason we can't be the team to do it, but shitting on kids for making a decision every adult would make is ridiculous.

No problem, but checking their 247 made me look further into their numbers and I think their number actually is 27.
In 2017, they had 29 commitments, but famously told one of them, Jarez Parks, on NSD he would have to grayshirt because they didn't have room. So, he actually signed last December and should count towards their 2018 class, pushing that number to 23 and only giving them 2 extra spots this year.

What ever happened to that CB from Houston named Marcus that was committed to us then decommitted after a trip to Bama?

He might have jumped the gun decommitting thinking he was a take for Bama, and they told him they didn't have room yet, or he knew he wasn't a take for them yet and decided he'd prefer A&M anyway and went ahead and let us know relatively early in the process.

i really dont understand this either...in one breath they are decommitting and the very same breath committing to bama...When players we want decomit from one school we speculate for a few days/weeks until they commit to us
