undersized wing
Are you referring to Bridgewater?
He is listed at 6-6, which is definitely not an undersized wing. Even if that is wrong, which it likely is, a 6-4 junior in high school is not an undersized wing. If he plays in the post, like Gathers, then he is a little undersized.

I am assuming you've never seen Bridge face to face. I am 5'11 and he is at best 6'3. He doesn't have the speed or quickness to even consider guarding a D1 2 or 3 either. Unless he has grown a lot since last basketball season.... which is why you've seen him drop consistently in rankings.

I wasn't referencing his skill level, and neither were you. You said "undersized wing." Even at 6-3, as a junior in high school, that is not an undersized wing. His skills are a completely different conversation. If he doesn't have the skill to play the wing, then he has to play the post. In that case, he is definitely undersized.

@ 6'3 that is undersized to play the wing. If he is gonna handle the ball some then 6'3 is fine but as a true wing player, I don't want him @ 6'3.

It really depends more on the skill level. At LSU, the 2 and 3 are basically interchangeable. I would also expect Bridgewater to grow at least another inch or so, but who knows.

I would agree, Felix is not that good. He will be recruited over at Texas in a year. I saw the guard from Salmen, Khari Price (2011) beat him soundly last year in the Hall of Fame Game. Khari Price is a PG that I am very impressed with but nobody seems to know him at LSU. Loosing Gathers was the BIG HURT. We should of had that kid!

Congrats to Felix... You are peaking at the right time... Bring home another Purple Knight state title before moving on to the next level...

Yep, and Gathers got handled by a freshman named Craig Victor, so does this make him not good either... I'm certain any top player had a few bad games in their time or even got outplayed(Who said Felix was the best?)... It's all about learning & prospering and Felix is doing just that...

I wasnt talking about just that one game, I have seen him more then once and in my opinion he is not TEXAS good, therfore he is not LSU good. More or less saying that TJ was really only hurt by losing Gathers. Gathers has an upside and this is his athletic ability. like how a 7 footer will always be 7 foot, Gathers will always have that freak athleticism. Felix, who in my opinion is a solid MM player, I think he will have a tough time on the HM level defending and his speed. He is wihthout a doubt a very good basketball player. He is tough, smart, sees the floor well, distributes well and he is a winner. I just think there is better guard for LSU to get so him going to T is ok with me. Hell, I wish him all the luck in the world..
And eveidently TEXAS says Felix is the best. They are trying to win the National Title every year, every guy they sign better be the Best! Now we need LSU acting that way, go sign THE BEST! No reason we cant, We have Tradition - Great Education - Facilities - Fanbase - Location - We should be signing Mc All Amer. Just my opinion..

He hasn't dropped very much (if at all) in real rankings. Not counting Hoop Scoop's top 14,500 5th graders.

I hear ya Tigerbite... He continues to impress and that's what will push him to the next level, regardless of mixed opinions...

I just don't understand the choice based on their recent recruiting and who they have on campus. Certainly a great opportunity and flattering to have Texas offer for basketball, but he shouldn't fall for the "next" DJ Augustin bullshite and should focus more on what will let him see the court earlier. Texas, based on their roster, wouldn't appear to be that destination. But good luck to him regardless.

Here are some comments on a live chat with Rivals basketball analyst Eric Bossi. It kind of confirms what we have been thinking. Texas wanted a player that was not really an NBA prospect to stabilize their point guard position and fill in between the losses and potential losses of their elite players.

Javan Felix to Texas. Good fit?

ericbossi: I think so. Texas really wanted to make sure that they found a guy who wasn't a threat to leave early and give their backcourt some stability. He's not going to make many mistakes and is a hard worker

Especially considering the kid is only a junior in high school. He will likely grow a couple of inches. But even if he doesn't, he's big enough for the wing now.

Hey Bubba I read that chat and I also so saw that they said morgan would have been more heavily recruited ,but everyone knew he was a tiger lean
Posted on 8/17/11 at 11:45 am to cowboy4ever
Yeah, I put that in the Morgan thread.

Tigerbite76, I've watched Javan play for a few years now and here's some info for you that many aren't aware of. In that game against Salmen, Felix played a few hours after burrying his grandmom. He was oviously not mentally into that game and the team imho fed off of that. A competitor will always try to ply their trade however it's up to the coach to make the decision on if a kid should play and at what point should a change be made. Felix is everything he's advertised to be and keep in mind he's receiving props from National Recruiting outlets because he's being observed against the top kids from around the Country. Also, he wasn't the 5A mvp for no reason. Trent missed out on two big fish in the state which doesn't bode well for him. By the way, I was impressed with Price in that game also.

Regardless of the fact that I would have liked him at LSU, Felix isn't going to make or break our team or our program.
