Yeah. Your buddy's source is almost definitely nolacapstone, who posts on Bama online. He said Roy was committing to Bama a couple of weeks ago and today, apparently, said he was still confident despite Roy committing so early.

Unless Alabama has changed their recruiting tactics with Louisiana kids, this recruitment doesn’t seem like he’s gonna commit to Bama.
Usually it goes like this:
Recruit rarely visits LSU despite LSU being closer. Roy has been living at LSU
Recruit starts acting weird and not talking to LSU coaches as much.
Not happening here.
Recruit delays commitment until signing day.
Roy is not.

Your friends who went to Bama are reading their 247 site. Nolacapstone is a poster on there who knows a Bama staffer, probably Petito. He loves to speak in absolutes and then crawfish if things change. He swore that they had Aranda in the bag. If he's saying it then someone in the bama war room is thinking it, but that doesn't necessarily make it true.
Tim Watts on the other hand gets his info directly from Saban, and Saban doesn't tell him something until he's sure. If Watts puts in a crystal ball, it's over.

Some don’t realize how big of a business college football is. Peeps will start rumors and say negative shite that sometimes sometimes finds its way to a recruits ears. If so they have done their job. You have to remember it’s not that hard to get inside a 18 to 19 year olds head .They will change commitment for just about any negative thing they may hear. They change their minds like some change underwire ,

A...s with handouts or axes to grind vs. flagship school. In Alabama folks would get their cars keyed, houses burned or worse if they were caught as a shill for an OOS competitor to Bama at a HS.

And the way to do this is get these people fired by finding dirt on them and do it so well it can't be found as violating their rights as employees. If folks are willing to do this then it may not be hard to find stuff on them they would be unrelated but considered insubordination or incompetency.

Agreed. Bama having a big event on same day as his announcement has to make one wonder.... Kevin Hagen (heard on Bill King radio) very confident gumps get Roy, Williams and Alford this summer.
