Both but mainly the importance of the 2025 class in state. Really hope that the atmosphere is electric for Bryce.

Apparently the word has gotten to the staff that they can't frick around in 2025 with LA talent and must secure Bryce. I guess the good news is that we will know in January.
Staff needs to pull their weight, but it would be rich coming from the money brokers that have time and again gotten out hustled and out bid in the 11th hour for recruits like Ricks, Simmons, etc.

People keep parroting the stupid assertion that Kelly will not "get into a bidding war," over certain recruits.
The truth of it is that he will not let LSU be leverage against another school. Some fail to see the distinction, and keep bringing up Jacoby Matthew's as their example.
He is a great example of what I am talking about. He was always going to go to the school who paid him the most. LSU and his handlers had came to a number of agreements and he was to be a Tiger, but A&M kept raising the price and at some point BK had enough and said fine, go to A&M.
With Underwood, we are willing to unload the magazine. By all accounts Underwood and his parents aren't the type to break an agreement once it's made, and Kelly understands the how important it is to have dynamic QB play, especially in this league.
We are going to take our best swing at Underwood, and will not let any reason we can control be why he doesn't come here, be it financial or whatever else.

Meaning nil related or just landing recruits?
Meaning that with the talent in state and the OOS guys we have committed or seriously interested, anything worse than a top 3 finish would be a failure.
2025 is one of those "All the Stars aligned" type of recruiting cycles for LSU.
If not, there will some sort of consequence. The offensive side of the ball is pulling its weight both on the field and on the recruiting trail.
The defensive side, however I doubt anyone's job could be considered safe, if after this season's on field production is then followed by a sub par recruiting cycle.
We will almost certainly see changes at the end of this year, even if it is just the Dline coach. If they whiff on the recruiting trail ?
They may not get time to redeem themselves if the 2023 cycle doesn't improve markedly.
I'm generally as positive a poster as we have on this board, and I'm not really in the business of calling for a coaches head, but there is reason for any LSU fan to be disappointed with recruiting this cycle, specifically on the defensive side of the ball.
If they can flip Reliford, and pull CJ Jackson along with the 2 Juco guys in Washington and Bob, then that buys them another year.
If not, the Matt House experiment at DC may end up a lot shorter than certainly I thought it would be.

quote:He's not going to Michigan. If it's not LSU, it will be somewhere else. They have a pretty decent QB right now in his NFL money year, and even though they are playing bad teams, they barely let the kid throw. They still rely HEAVILY on run game and defense. While that will work, that does not get QBs excited. At the very least we can point to Joe Burrow recently and currently Jayden Daniels. Even Max Johnson threw for 2800 yards and 27 TDs to 6 ints in 12 games in 2021.
Trying to look at this objectively and I keep seeing it playing out in our favor. Denbrock has proven to have a offensive style that really lets the QB shine while having NFL level talent at the WR position to throw to. Harbaugh is known for being run-first and trying to win with defense. Which sounds more fun?
And then the simple fact that Harbaugh flirts with the NFL every year. Do you wanna deal with that or come to LSU where you know these guys will be here for your entire progression to the next level.
LSU's last 5 passing seasons
15 games 6025 yards 61 TD 7 int
10 games 3120 yards 24 TD 9 int
13 games 3305 yards 32 TD 11 int
13 games 3770 yards 23 TD 7 int
6 games 2025 yards 19 TD 2 int
If he wants to play with elite offensive weapons and in a system that will let him throw it 30+ times per game, LSU is way better than Michigan.

quote:Yeah Daniels junior and senior years in high school, he put up insane numbers. The problem is that he didn't have offensive or team structure in back to back years except for at LSU. Like I said before the season, Daniels got a do over. While covid took away his early year to year progression, that same covid problem gave him an extra year to come here and develop. He is now being seen as a legit top 5-6 QB draft prospect
The progression of Daniels has to ring bells for the Underwood group. He's not that different from Underwood as a prospect and talent at he same stage. Daniels just wasn't as hyped up. Underwood is still very raw overall, much like Daniels was. Sloan has to sell that.

quote:At that point you weigh NFL futures if you're smart. Only an idiot would pick Michigan over LSU if you're a WR or QB and your #1 goal is the NFL.
The question is whether or not the total amount compares to what Michigan and other schools are offering.

quote:Exactly. It never made sense when Fields did it, then he had to pull a rabbit out of his hat to transfer with immediate eligibility to Ohio St one year later. Smart lied to him about playing time, but his parents should have told him that Fromm was clearly the starter.
I have a hard time believing a QB of his caliber wants to play in Harbaugh's old school, run heavy offense. Him going there would be a lot like Justin Fields going to Georgia. Local school that doesn't fit his skill set.

If we land Bryce Underwood, then we can pretty much throw the "LSU doesn't have the NIL money to compete" notion out the window.
Because to land an elite QB, especially a 5* QB who is the #1 overall prospect in the country, it's going to cost millions. Many millions.
And I'll believe it when I see it. Because so far, LSU is losing way too many of these big recruiting battles that come down to the final 2-3 schools. If the NIL money was there, McKinley wouldn't be going to A&M, Mack wouldn't be going to Florida, Simmons wouldn't be going to Texas, and we would have a class right now that isn't on the verge of falling out of the top 10.
But maybe it just took time for LSU to get its act together with the NIL collective, and we'll see all this change in 2025 and going forward. I would absolutely love to see it - but I'm not holding my breath.

Do we know if Dak Moore is coming too?
Duncanville plays Thursday night this week …
I'm feeling better and better about this commitment sticking. If we've done anything this year, it's continuing the perception of WRU with Nabers and BTJ. Moore sees that and knows that if he comes here he's gonna get the ball, a lot.

Once Ewers goes pro and he sees Manning is a fraud that will certainly help too

Not sure what you’re talking about. He’s the number one overall recruit at the QB position and lives in Michigan. We’ve never drawn anyone like that before. Thus it would be the most impressive haul I’ve seen from LSU.

Sloan has to sell that.
Bingo.
Denbrock has called good games, his mixture of run to pass has done well. Sloan has worked within the QB room. Don’t know how long we keep Sloan.

There's been some deserved criticism of CBK and Co, but then going out to get Daniels and help him get to what he is deserves heaps of praise. I hope Underwood can see that.
It sure would be more visible and praise worthy with a good defense. Not even great but good. Like they showed in the second half but against a more proven team, all 4 quarters. It’s just a matter of fact when you have a side of the ball losing games in spite of the record breaking offense. This is the second best offense in LSU history and it’s not showcased because the defense is just so bad. It’s sucks and I hope they turn it around because if they do then it’ll be showcased much more and they’ll all get credit for this like in 2019. They can still win all these awards but they need to keep getting better and growing on D.
What scares me is that I keep hearing that Sage Ryan is playing good and he’s not playing good at all. They either need to see that for what it is or get that dude to play like a damn man and not a little boy. Like someone needs to actually challenge him and I think he might respond well if they do. I sure hope they not just patting him on the back, saying great job, keep it up.

Don't forget about the All American bookend tackles, and a TE room unlike any in America, with guys that are 6'6" 250 that run like wideouts and block like extra linemen.

Hopefully Sloan stays on for a few years and takes over when Denbrock retires.
I was the least thrilled with Kelly's OC hire when he came in. He's turned out to be our most effective and consistent presence on the staff.
I've only questioned his play calling during this years FSU game, or a better way to put is he has given us few reasons to question his play calling aside from this years FSU game.
I'd like to see us run the ball more, and I'd like to see Jayden hand the damn thing off more during zone reads. I've seen Diggs run 10 yards up the field without the ball so many times this year, with Jayden getting bottled up near the LoS.
JD5 owes Sloan a % of his first NFL contract, because Sloan has coached the shite out of Daniel's. He took what many of yall said was a finished product and turned him into damn near peak Michael Vick, with better decision making.
Sloan needs a raise, and we have to do what we can to keep him around for a long time.

Need to see what nuss does next year before we crown Sloan for one year jump from JD

Every player is different, amd I suspect we see some drop off in overall production, especially rushing the football, however I think passing the ball the offense is going to continue to operate at a high level with Nussmeier.
I also believe that like with Daniels, Sloan will be responsible for Nussmeiers evolution as a playcaller.
I give Daniels all the credit he deserves for his play, but he doesn't make the leaps as a passer that he has without daily high level instruction.
