I would love to see us get Chris Williams over getting a 3rd WR. LB is a bigger need for this team.

I think we will be lucky to sign 6 more. No way I see us signing as many as 9 more players.

Monk, explain how what I said was wrong? Its a scenario where we could get up to 9 players...I never said it would happen. I think 6-7 is a more probable number.

I would prefer Debose over Williams.

Why? We're beyond stacked at WR. We're very thin by comparison at LB. Williams would be another huge pickup from Texas (#1 LB in the state).

Debose is a can't miss prospect. The thought RR, Debose, C Tolliver, etc. is sick.

Us getting Williams is more likely than us getting Debose though.

Benton counts back to last year.
XSF counts against 2010
Singleton will greyshirt.

Then, with the 6 remaining:

Loston
Randle
Mingo
Michael
Sentimore
Williams (or Debose or JM)

I'm not sure on Benton. I still seriously doubt he will qualify. Time for him to head the JUCO route.

You forgot Rocky D. He will count as part of the 2009 class.

XSF...Ro covered it earlier in the thread.

Singleton will NOT get grey shirted. The ONLY reason we take a FB in this class is b/c we really need one (i don't want to bring up this argument, but the coaches feel FB is a need). If Singleton got grey shirted them he would not be able to play in the 2009 season. He would start playing in 2010. It defeats the purpose.

Two players I know of have been asked to grey shirt. One has accepted the other is contemplating it. (I cannot say anymore).

Christine Michael will probably never have a committable offer no matter how much LSU fans want him to.

Everything else looks fine.

We are looking for 1-2 more LBs in this class and 2 more WRs in Debose and Randle (I think Wooten is out of the picture).

Y'all are splitting hairs on this one. We are going to take guys are both positions.

Lynx, what do you think our REALISTIC chances are with Debose?

Everything says we have as good of a shot as any. I wasn't on the Debose train for most of the year up until this past month when some new info emerged on him.

UF will definitely make a late push. I think it will come down to UF and LSU. I know he has mentioned Miami, but I don't get the feelings he'll go there. They signed SIX WRs in their 2008 class (not sure how many of those actually qualified though) so I see that being another factor in his recruitment.

He most certainly is. Randle is a can't miss prospect. Williams is much more important to get than Debose IMO. Look at our WR corps for 2009...

3* LaFell
5* T. Tolliver
5* Benton
5* Randle (possibly)
4* J. Mitchell
4* C. Mitchell
4* D. Peterson
4* Bell
4* J. Williams
4* Dixon
4* R.J. Jackson
3* J. Taylor
3* Molton

I mean seriously...we don't need anymore WRs this class outside of Randle.

Look at our LB corps for 2009 by comparison...

3* Sheppard
3* Riley
3* Cutrera
4* Clemmons
4* Baker
3* Theriot
3* Prater
2* Foyil
4* Minter
3* Ferrell

We need some more talent in the LB corps. Williams would be a huge add.

I'll say it again...we are taking 2 more LBs and trying to take 2 more WR in Randle and Debose.

You two are arguing over something that is a non-factor. We are trying to take both!

Gives him time to prove himself to LSU that he deserves an offer.

It will allow LSU to see him in person his senior year.

Not to mention, it gives him more time to make the correct choice for himself.

Basically, the person that 'grey shirts' counts towards next year's class. They can either start school in the Fall and pay there own way for the first semester, or they can start in January and their scholarship will begin then.

It is normally used on instate guys that are 'die hard' LSU fans that have the $$ to pay there own way initially (or have TOPS cover it).
