I think Saban started coming here and getting to know LA kids in 8th and 9th grade. He still does that, I imagine. Identify with them on a friendly basis and keep tabs on their progress.

Miles could venture into Alabama and do what Saban does in LA, but maybe the return on investment is higher in Texas. I would like to see LSU plant a flag in Texas and really put the hurt on UT and atm.

Know how I know you haven't seen Bama's recruiting budget?

Seriously, it's this simple. Bama is rolling on the field right now, Saban is a great recruiter, has HS coaches willing to help him just to climb the ranks, and he STILL can't pull talent from LA consistently.

UGA fans have nightmares about Saban, we have a bad dream every two to three years.

Maybe I am just noticing the effect in Louisiana more than other places.

You are. Like that other guy said, he rapes Georgia. He grabs most of the top dogs in state because Auburn is a pushover ATM and he knows LSU and knows the talent. His connections along with his constant winning of games, dominance and championships, plus him have at least 3 first round drafts picks every year, keep these LSU guys interested.

LSU has, for the most part, being about at a 90% success rate of getting who we want in the state when Saban got here. Now we have maybe 1 or 2 guys a year who slip away. If we can show on offense what we consistently show on defense, we probably get less guys looking at Bama. Winning is an incredible thing.

?
please list the 5-7 players they are going HARD after this year. Also list the 5-7/yr any other year. A list of top guys they've gotten out of LA would be nice, too.

One question that I have though, is when will the Louisiana high school coaches stop helping this guy out? Why does he still have pull in Louisiana?
you make it seem like multiple coaches all over Louisiana are helping him, care to list those coaches?

Great post Pimp

Our bigger problem is the rest of the SEC stepping up their game

LSU has held it's own against Bama

I agree. Regardless of Saban coaching in LA, the top kids in Alabama are not coming down to an Alabama/LSU battle for their committment, like most of the top kids in Louisiana every year. Gets to me. If loose kids to USC west or Texas I don't care, just rivarly teams and pretty much only those son of bitches that piss me off.

Is Alabama's strategy to get the top 18-20 players they can from Alabama and nationally and then go HARD after the top 5-7 players out of Louisiana each year?

No...look at the top guys in Bama the last few years. Bama lost quite a few of them..Jameis Winston for one.

Exactly, I posted similar statement about 1 month ago; Top recruits from Alabama will not commit to LSU.

Saban would take everyone of these if he could:
Cam
LF
Hootie
Dupre
Jacory Washington
Clapp
Sims (apparently)
Brumfield
GWIII

Haven't heard much about bama with Noil but I if Noil had legit interest, Saban would be all over him too.

He was recruitng Brandon Harris pretty hard too.

bullshite! At least one of those will slip through the cracks like a Eddie Lacy or Landon Collins. There's always some top LA talent helping Bama to a NC.

I never said Bama would not land any of them. Someone just asked for a list of guys they wanted this year from La.

How about you list every single one of them for me.

Not always the case. I think we need to double down on the Mobile area and take the fight to Saban. Get someone on the ancillary recruiting staff in that area and pound it like we used to.

We've taken talent from Alabama, but it was when they were down and Saban was here. LSU is a brand name, we can make inroads if we had the right recruiter.

Fluker was a katrina evacuee that was living in MS then was miraculously placed at Foley HS and his mom got a job in bama a week after he commited to Bama.

Landon Collins helped bama get to a NC last year? You got any of his highlights for me to see?

Lacy was the 2nd best back on the team last year, they win the NC with him or without him.

Remember that year that LSU had their best recruiting year ever getting guys like Leonard Fournette and there were those guys who spent the whole year wetting the bed about Saban on The LSU Recruiting Board ?

Yeah.
Me too.
