Two reasons for DBU: PP7 and TM7. They were two of the most compelling players in college football, and that's unusual for DBs.
High school DBs looked at that and thought, "I want to be the man, and you can do that at LSU like nowhere else."
This is the same reason that Ohio State, TAMU, and Auburn can recruit dual threat QBs.
