Is O being too optimistic in regards to who he can get at the end?

Look O is doing an unbelievable job and gets to make the decisions he wants.

He has gotten bit by overconfidence in recruiting a few times though. I don’t trust the recruits that tell multiple staffs the same things.

Will be an interesting finish.

We do have a chance to be pretty fricked at the DB and RB spots in this class.

I agree. I trust he knows what he's doing, but even an ace recruiter can't get in the heads of 17-18 year old kids. A bird in the hand and whatnot.

As ruthless as it sounds, I'd have a damn mind to sit there by the fax machine on December 18th and wait until X 5 star's LOI comes through to tell Y 4 star to sign with someone else.

Playing a dangerous game.

Can always make it up next year. It's part of the game.

I’m hoping the letters are signed already but not processed but will be as soon as the time comes.

We are recruiting from a different standpoint this year. When you are #1 and trying to win a national title, the talk of college football, and a team that is having a lot of fun you have a LOT more interest from recruits.

It's a bad look with all the decommitments especially the LA kids but I trust the staff with evaluations
A lot of these players were offered way too early and hopefully LSU will hold off on so many offers going forward until you identify the ones you really want

When you are the #1 team in the country and have a national brand like we do now, you can make more calculated risks. I trust this staff. They've been burned before so I would expect they've learned their lesson.

The second we call Clayton with a solid offer he’d jump on board. I think we have Evans in the bag though

And at DB, we signed 4 true corners that by alll accounts can all play last year. We’re bringing in Ricks and Toles who are both big time players and we will bring another safety on board. We’ll be fine there

In all fairness a lot of the reason they were "offered too early" is that we didn't know we would be 13-0 with an all-time great Heisman quarterback season and dethroning Bama when some of these commitments occurred.

It was more prudent to offer/accept them at the time. But everyone has a point, sometimes it can come back to bite you.

In terms of DB's, I think part of this is that we hit big last year on guys who the staff think are going to be really good. Flott, Ward, Jones, Hampton have all given the staff reason to feel that they all will be major contributors going forward

Sometimes the lesser heralded recruits are the ones that shine the most.

You need talent especially when you line up against the likes of Bama and OSU and Clemson in the playoffs but guys like Jefferson, Moreau, Helaire, etc. are the ones that fill in that roster and will put individual goals aside for the overall team.

I ain’t too worried about CBs with Flott, Ward, and Stingley all playing good, and Mo Hampton coming on strong. We just need a Safety to replace Delpit.

No. He knows the situation much better than anyone on this board. He has said on numerous occasions that recruiting couldn’t be going any better. I have 100% confidence that Orgeron and staff will finish this class strong and potentially jump Clemson. Have faith.

LSU has opened eyes this year, which means you have more options at your disposal.

I suspect, O doesn't just tell the kid, but tells the kid parents....

Hypothetical Convo:
Hey Mr and Mrs 4 Star, for the state of LA we have to take the best recruits, your son is ONE OF THE BEST and we WANT HIM. With that being said, I have Mr 5 * knocking down the door, wanting to be in this class, I have to do what's best for LSU and I have ONLY 1 spot left...

Im coming to you, to give you this information, so that you can evaluate, and consider other colleges, AGAIN, I WANT Mr 4 star, but I don't have room,

For some reason, if something happens "AGAIN" i want your son, and he then is IN, but I wanted to come to you Man to Parents Man to Kids yada yada yada

He can say (to save face) that he is evaluating and wants to make sure he's making the right decision yada yada yada

That's how i think it goes down?
but who knows
