This is my response to a Bama fan regarding the recruting of Rasco.

What do you think? Is Nick Saban the Paul Crewe of LA?

quote:

quote:

I guess Alabama should just quit recruiting him now, huh?

Look, I don't think he's going to end up at Alabama, but he looks like he'll certainly give Alabama and Texas a hard look.

I hope Aluuh-Bama does recruit the hell out of Rasco. I hope they spend countless hours talking to him, calling him, visiting him, texting him, and writing to him. I hope they spend so much time on him that they neglect other kids. Because in the end, Rasco will be at LSU.

And, Nick Saban has done very poorly in the state of LA (accepting LSU's rejects). And, I don't say that to degrade Lacy and Sentimore. They may turn out to be great star football players, but there were better prospects in LA the year they were recruited. Louisiana coaches have no love for Nick Saban. I can promise you. With all the years that Saban spent in LA, he should be able to come in here and pluck the best right from under LSU's nose…but you don’t see it happening do you? And, it’s not going to.

Why? Because Nick Saban used up all his political capital and good will with LA H.S. coaches when he pulled the Miami and then to Bama stunt. These high school coaches are Louisianan’s first (most LSU fans) and only dream about coaching for the money Saban's made. Saban is viewed as a traitor to LSU.

Ever see the original movie "The Longest Yard"? Well, Nick Saban is the Paul Crewe (Burt Reynolds) of Louisiana. In the movie, the character Paul Crewe was a pro QB that got caught fixing a game he was playing in and betting against his own team...a traitor..."It's un-American to fix a football game" so the move quotes from the Caretaker (an inmate/fellow prisoner with Crewe in the movie). And, to most of these coaches, Saban is just as much traitor and "un-Louisianan" as Crewe was un-American in the movie. This is why Saban will never enjoy much success recruiting LA talent.

Both Lacy and Sentemore had grade issues that meant they might not have qualified. And, thus, that could have been two wasted scholarships that Les could have given to sure thing academic qualifiers. Each one of these scholarships have a certain time cost to them. And, you can't recover the time that was lost in May, if a kid does not qualify, back to the previous February. Everyone worth having signs their LOI in Feb. so you have a year before you can recover from academic attrition.

Miles figured it wasn't worth taking the chance for Sentimore and Lacy. Saban took a chance and luckily came out on top. However, that is the oddball year. And, LSU owns the state of LA when it comes to football talent. The days of Bear Bryant coming into LA and asking if a kid wants to play for a "Championship Team" and have a chance to win a Championship are OVER!!!!!!!!

LSU has TWO to Bama's one in the last decade and that's as far back as high school kids care to remember and it's all that matters. When the word starts getting out that Saban rescinds/cancels players scholarships/kicks them out of the program for the next class’ best and brightest (and that's how he can sign 28+ scholarship athletes a year) Rasco, or any kid with any sense that is not from ALUUH-Bama, won't want anything to do with Bama or Nick Saban. Saban is dirty. You can cover shite in whipped cream and chocolate, but in the end you’re still eating shite. And, that is what Saban is...plain unethical.

LSU will have a much better recruiting class this year than Bama and the "Gumps" can see it already. That's why they are trying to play this doubt game on LSU fans. In 2011 Alabama’s instate top prospects are few and far between. That’s why they are hitting MS, GA, and FL so hard now. Add in the Auburn affect in 2011 and Bama’s class will be poor if the out of state kids don’t commit to “Little Nicky”.

the inbred Gumps!

You know, for someone that is supposed to be no threat, and ineffective in LA, posters on this board sure pay him alot of attention.

No threads about Mack, or Tubbs, or Petrino, or Chizik, or Stoops on here today.

These folks are nuts, I would hate to be an ex girlfriend of one of em

It is fair to criticize me for "complaining about Saban". We have seen that one too many times. My point is not just another diatribe about Saban and how he left and LSU's supposed "loss" of a great coach.

Now it's about having to deal with these Bama fans/trolls that come on this board and flame inferring that LSU's commits are going to sign with Bama...All they are here to do is stir up trouble...If I were to post anything on an Alabama board, they would kick me off. I was kicked off a Bama board for saying that their offense could be shut down with 8 in the box.

There seems to be rash of this lately (Bama fans comming on here flaming)...I'm over Saban and would have him back to coach if Miles left. Coaching is a somewhat dirty game like being a politician...most are.

I'll take the criticism as we have all seen enough rants against Saban. But, I was looking for a yes or no, from a recruiting stand point, regarding H.S. Coaches.

I better not ever see the runt here in LA, if Bama is so great, win with their own mediocre in state players.

Talking all the smack about Saban and Al is nice but the bottom line in in the RESULTS.
And guess who is getting quicker and better RESULTS the last 2 years after taking over less talent, etc.

Agree with all you said except WE wanted Sentimore,And when the new Defensive Coaching staff got on campus and saw that we had not offered Sentimore they were in shock, and with Chavis we offered rite away. got on him to late and Saban got a real good one from La. And we needed him bad this past year, and he could have helped. One position we have not recruited hard under Miles is the DT position. DL university last year was trying to find walk ons just to have a rotation at that position. HOPEFULLY we will offer Hunter and Johnson SOON

Lacy is going to be one that will also come back to haunt us.
AL is LOADED at RB in less than 2 years and we are working on "potential" RBs.

Trevon Reed didn't go to Bama, he went to auburn.

We weren't taking walk ons to fill the DT position lat year. we had a solid four man rotation with Woods, Alexander, downs and Nevis.

Also we had a pretty good DT hall in the 2010 class with Downs and Davenport, and some big DE's

How, on special teams..?
With Ingram and Richardson he will never smell the field other than on Sp. Teams and if he makes every tackle on punts more power to him!!

RS Freshman - Mr Heisman is gone after this year. Trent will start and lacy will back up next yr. Trent will be gone when Lacy is a RS Jr
BTW-when you DOMINATE your opponents, the 3rd string RB actually gets some reasonable playing time.
Unfortunately, LSU has forgotten that word the last couple of years.
