Loadholt - coulsnt pass a math class to get into LSU
Lacy - got in the last minute
Bolden - see Lacy.
When you take chances on kids with possible grade issues, you're eventually going to bust and frick up your numbers

Let's not kid each other, Baton Rouge is not that great. Especially just off campus. I love it, I'd move back in a heartbeat, but the city and the state have a long list of problems. It's no Austin, and it sure as hell doesn't carry the appeal of LA or South Beach.
Combine that with LSUs depth. That Miles can pull kids from all over the country is astounding. He's the man.

yes, miles is a good recruiter. Is he a "great" recruiter? thats what it will take to stay on top of the SEC.

Saban was pretty damn solid too.
Did you really have to use the S word?

What comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Why didn't Saban stay at Michigan St. and build his team there? Because he knew he could never climb ahead of Ohio St. or Michigan at that time.
He came to LSU when Bama was down and Florida was on decline with Spurrier and recruited Louisiana High School Football and 6 hour drive in all directions.

thats correct. why didn't miles stay at okie state and build it against OK and UT? these coaches are overrated. many coaches could have success at LSU, Georgia, ala., Florida with the in state talent pool and resources.

Before Pete Carroll, USC was horible for well over a decade.
Before Mack Brown, Texas was horrible for over two decades.
Before Saban, Bama had become so pitiful, Auburn was the dominate state school for over a decade.
After Tom Osborne left Nebraska, their elite recruiting program crashed and burned.
Michigan's recruiting program crashed and burned, so they had to make a change.
Miami's recruiting program crashed and burned, so they had to make a change.
Florida St.'s recruiting program has crashed and burned, so they named their coach in waiting.
Point being, Miles has LSU's recruiting program in the top-5 in the nation.
Only idiots and clueless geeks want to fix what isn't broke--just reload with all the great talent Miles and his staff keep bringing in.

Uggghhh. Where to start??? I will just be brief. Les Miles HIRED his coaches!!! Any recruits they bring in are because LES MILES hired them in the first place. People keep forgetting Les Miles is the HEAD coach, not the OC, not the DC etc. He is responsible for what happens. All of the above and a whole list of unmentioned reasons are why LSU does what it does. Hmmm... wasn't too brief! Oh well.

LSU name & facilities, and a few good recruiters on the coaching staff NOT named Les Miles.
To be honest...the only kids that come here for name are instate kids. and for a while that wasnt even true. Facilities are great rt now, but that doesnt mean shite if you cant get the kid on campus to see them. Miles has done a great job of keeping majority of players in state and still reaching out for others.
we have lost out on some players i really wanted, but every school loses out to LSU on players as well.
