No, I think it was voltiger who said it best. Meatball is going up against guys who have actually coached up and put out great defensive linemen. He has yet to do that. I don't think it was the right call promoting him and him having his first DL coach job be at LSU. I guess O thought with his background, it could be overcome. However, as we've seen, that hasn't been the case.

*ETA: they're not trotting out these types of guys much anymore

We're going after the exact same guys that they are. That's the source of our frustration. They were recruiting Ika, heavily and he became a numbers casualty. They recruited Tyler Shelvin. We recruited Raekwon Davis, Byron Young, Isiah Buggs, Phi Mathis, etc.

I really don't know how anyone can say they're recruiting this type of guy and we're recruiting a different type of guy, when we're both recruiting the same guys.

They simply have the luxury of being able to get the guys they want most and we have to take who's left. It's not like we have the luxury of turning away talented DL prospects.

You have to be willing to take chances and beat bama in different ways not at their own game.

Bama and Saban's ability to dissect offense's so they know tendencies allows them to predict what the offense is going to do. You must show them one thing and do something unpredictable. Canada was able to do this to a degree the year before last. Only problem was Etling couldn't get the ball to the wide-open receivers. That was Miles problem. His offense got so predictable it was easy for saban to stop it. But the games that bama has lost was to teams whose QB would run when no receivers were open. Ole Miss did it, Clemson did it the first time they beat bama. TAMU did it. That is the one thing bama has been having trouble stopping. Not QB runs by design, but QB's running from the pocket when receivers are not open. If it's by design saban will sniff it out. Has to be improv. Miles didn't want his QB's to run. But with O there I think he has given the green light to the QB to run, by design and improv. LSU has the pieces in place to beat bama. They are closer personnel-wise than they have been since 2011 and 2012. If the coaches can come up with a great game plan I think these guys have the ability to execute it.

On the right track meaning if LSU signs Dumerville, Crawford, Roy, Guillory and the other big time lineman we are “projected” to sign. If LSU can’t do that and bama continues to be able to come into LA and pick who they want on the lines then LSU will have a hard time catching up. Even if LSU signs others from OOS. We have to have bama waste some recruiting time and efforts only to lose those battles with La recruits while also signing the best OOS lineman we can possibly sign as well. We just have to change this. O needs to do what ever he needs to do to make this happen. IMO he needs all the help he can get so go out there and grab a DL coach like Bill Busch is a DB coach. Then coach O and the new guy can tag team these big time recruits. Something has to change on both lines of scrimmage for this whole script to flip. LSU needs to pull out all stops. We doing great nation wide and the WDE position looks great. We need the SDE and DT position to change. I even like the 3* Cali recruit we picked up as well as the JUCO 3*. That’s some serious dudes.
