this is a very good class (assuming they all qualify) BUT A VERY POOR CLOSE.

Damn bro you can complain about anything. LSU's coaching staff locked down Louisiana and you are bitching about closing. PW & TG were going to UCLA all along closer to home, RN is just a drama queen that screwed Clemson and was going to Ole Piss all along and the rest of the top group were committed to AU before de-committing and you are blaming the coaching staff for not getting any of them. Wake the F*ck up, we have a top 5 class that is damn strong, for our damn strong football team.

I'd take Jackson to close out the class. I'm not sure Riley's situation is not conditional

some of you are misunderstanding my comments. I started out talking about how LSU would finish the class in the first sentence. in the second sentence the reference to 1 or 2 oos guys relates to how we should have finished the class post jan. 1 and not regarding the entire class as a whole.

I stand by my comments. LSU SHOULD HAVE FINISHED THE CLASS OUT STRONGER, THAT THE MARK OF ELITE RECRUITING.

go look at all the threads discussing who we would close with or who would you take. they all talked about elite prospects of which we "CLOSED" with none so far.

Remember, reports indicate LSU has pulled even with Bama for Eddie Jackson. So the Tigers could close with Jackson & Riley--sure, we would have hoped for highly rated players like Willis or Foster, but that is okay. As others have posted, the early recruiting, nailing down most of the top LA talent, getting the 2 highly ranked QB's, and getting all those OOS recruits back in the summer were things LSU does not do every year.

cousin, i agree that we have a VERY GOOD class but there will probably be 5 sec schools with very good classes and no one knows how the different classes will turn out. a suld strong close would have put some more distance between us and a few other sec schools. if you can't OUT TALENT the competition then you must OUT COACH the competition.

We have the best class in the country imo top to bottom. Finishing strong is a dumb arse statement in recruiting. We got who we wanted early so what does it matter when guys commit?

You've got it backwards man. The coaches got all the heavy lifting done early which allowed us the opportunity to add some other elite players to the class. Most anyone added from around 2nd week of January to Signing Day is icing on the cake. You sound like you're saying a Top 5 class isn't elite.

damned if they do damned if they don't, no matter what some of you will find something to bitch and whine about. The mark of elite recruiting is getting elite classes, not how they close.

the threads you mention are nothing by message board speculation. The took a swing at some big fish and missed. They've landed big guys late before, so one year does not a trend make, but hey, whatever makes you unhappy.

red, not looking for an argument. i am a lsu grad and homer BUT i do not believe we will have the no.1 class in country after signing day. NO WAY IN MY MIND.

The question is, did we fill our NEEDS. I think so, though I'd like another Saftey/CB, and/or Tall receiver/DT. But I think the coaches know what we have (eg Travin Dural, etc) and are OK with that, provided everyone qualifies. I think they are very discriminating with who they accept, for that reason. Lots of schools (TA&M & Ole Miss) have great classes on paper (measured by stars), BUT check back in a year or two & who is qualifies & is still in school or has 'character issues'.
Also, it's relatively easy to get lots of recruiting points signing 3 running backs or 6 receivers but we must have the big uglies, etc. I wish we'd have taken Taylor, the Tx back who really wanted to be a Tiger, but (the coaches think) we don't need him. Anyone we take now means one less space for the '13 class, and I hate it when players have to be processed, to make room. Just my thoughts.

At the end of the day, there is not much difference in having a top 10 class...all 10 will have elite athletes that can contribute early...I am really happy that we ended up filling major needs (i.e. QB, DLine, DB, etc.)

If Leslie and Cutrer qualify we'll be good.
