If we don't get another QB this year, it's not the end of the world

I too want Bryce Young, but if he's intent on enrolling at a school with 8 dual-threat QBs already on the roster, then maybe his decision-making ability leaves more to be desired.

Looking at Max Johnson and TJ Finley's stats, it's hard to be optimistic about either one. Finley's only completing 36% of his passes this year, and Johnson averages only 114 passing yards a game.

That being said, we still have Myles Brennan for 2 years after this year. That gives us until the 2021 class to recruit a quarterback and have him develop in our system for one year. We have to go full press for Caleb Williams next year though. Guy seems to be the real deal.

And of course, there's always the QB transfer portal. You can never tell what will happen there.

I don't think we're even recruiting Young... I'd prefer him over our current commits but these are the guys we're taking this year.

The past two Heisman trophy winners were transfer QB's

3 of the top 6 teams in the country have TRANSFER QB's

Why waste your energy looking for high school seniors when there will be plenty of QB's in the transfer portal this upcoming year?

Keep either Tj or Max as a backup and go get a stud that wants to play in Joe Brady's offense

Are we just throwing in the towel already on Parrish?

Hey man, it’s simple math.

If Joe wins the Heisman this year then Parrish can’t possibly win four Heismans which means he’s clearly a bust.

But in all seriousness people need to let the guys we have develop for a bit and get some action before we declare the future of LSU quarterbacks as doomed as the past.

If the offense keeps up QB interest will come. All about the end game at this point.

Don't discount Parrish!

The GOAT Tom Brady struggled his freshman and sophomore years, barely making the depth chart at UMich. Even as a senior he split time with Drew Henson. It wasn't until the 2nd half of his senior season that he became legend.

I'm not saying Parrish will be Brady. But even the best require some seasoning. He's a smart kid and he has a winning pedigree. When he turns on, lookout!

If our 2020 QB commits are at 36% and 114 passing yards a game,we better wake up and go in another direction. Those numbers are horrible for a supposed D1 level QB Senior.

We aren’t taking anymore QBs. Max Johnson will beat TJ Finley out for the job in 2021.

This is actually a pretty interesting thought. Certain teams have usually been able to stockpile quarterbacks and just reload whenever one graduates or goes pro. Nowadays with the transfer portal, how many are actually going to sit around and “wait their turn”. Why would teams go after a quarterback every class when they can find a more mature quarterback that’s already been in a college system for a year or two.

Obviously you can’t bank on getting a transfer and will have to recruit to fill spots but do you really want to waste time recruiting a quarterback when so many good options are going to be on the table every September.

Brennan is going to lose the job as a 5th year senior to a RSFR?

The current offense is all about the QB being accurate and making good decisions.

If you don’t have those 2 things, whoever comes will soon be transferring back out.

Some people either are too blind to see what it takes to be a QB or just refuse to admit it for obvious reasons

So you believe there is going to be a Joe Burrow type each year in the transfer portal?
Then all we have to do is out recruit or out bid the other teams. It does seem to be working for Oklahoma.
We need to recruit the best and use "transfer" as a last resort.

Because it's the element of the unknown. You don't actually know who will be in the portal and who won't be. If you rely on that as the primary source of your QBs then you'll get burned eventually. It's a bird in the hand vs possibly none in the bush if you're unlucky.

You still have to grow your own talent. Transfer portal is there if you need it. It's not to be relied upon.

How much does one have to suck to throw for a 36% completion percentage against HS level completion?

Is it worth signing 24 players in hope of getting that stud transfer portal QB?
