you are right to a certain extent.

really should be asking WHY a kid is not getting that next star.
- one of them is build/measurables. Does he still have another growth spurt in him? Gain a couple inches?

- given the tools of a D1 off-field, will a recruit become a weight room monster and put on weight/muscle? does he have the potential to blow up.

- and sometimes it boils down to that HS's history. If they lose 4 games a year, rarely make the playoffs, and have put 1% of the players Blanche Ely has, they could really be "off radar"

This year isn't as much about the "5 star guys" as much as it is on how we missed our in-state boys, the lies from certain recruits and not filling needs. If you compare this class to past classes, it's as good as it gets but Miles not offering Simms, which cost us Robinson hurt and caused us to lose Hootie too.

Now losing Hootie is a wash bc we got Adams but Miles inability to identify Robinson's deciding factors, after 4 years of recruiting him, is bad. Saban just didn't start talking about the number of Olinemen he's put in the nfl vs stud either. Miles chose to keep his friend around when he had a chance to replace him and with that along with not offering Simms, cost us 3 top guys in north LA.
Miles has always waited until it was broke to fix things. When your being paid what he's being paid and coaching in the hardest division of any conference, you can't afford to be reactive with issues like this but rather proactive. For that reason, we will alway be 1 step behind. Grimes was cut by auburn last year so therefore was available. If he's such a great recruiter and coach, why didn't Miles get him knowing how big of a class 2014 was going to be?

For the first time someone says somethng in here with truth and complete intelligence. Ive been saying the same thing but many clowns in here just dont wan to accept the truth. Miles is always a step behing on making key decisions to help keep this program at the top. Thank you my friend for saying what should have been said a long time ago. Maybe some of you Miles lovers will finally get what weve been saying!

you are repeating the same bullshite rhyder1 said on the first page of this thread, we'll see how kiffen turns out for the gumps. Was nick a step behind last year with his offense, many gumps would say "yes". Clowns? people who think they know more about these kids, where they are going or how to recruit them than our coaching staff are the clowns, you make me laugh.

I disagree. Not offering Simms was the right call even if it did cost LSU CRob which isn't a sure bet.

Why do you say that, omegaman? Is Sims just not very good, did we have too many better prospects, or do you think he wasn't worth offering because he wasn't coming anyway?

Because it sets a bad precedent. Sims wouldn't camp at LSU... offering him just to get someone else. You imho wouldn't have gotten crob if sims had come to LSU. You would have ended up with sims and not crob anyway!

crob was not coming here and he knew that for over a long time before he committed to the diatoms. Why didn't sims camp here? Because crob was in his ear and steering him away from LSU probably.

agreed. bad assumption that LSU automatically gets CRob with Sims. Recent history shows that most of the time that's just recruits collecting offers like trophy's OR a big time player making sure his friends are taken care of (Nkemdiche & Clemson).

A lot of people saying "Kiffen will ruin Alabama" are the same people that said "Saban is leaving after 5 years"
we never know till it happens

Kiffin will not be in a position to "ruin Alabama." Most of his problems have been public relations related, Saban doesn't let his Asst's talk to the Media.
The guy is not a bad coach, just a terrible PR guy.
