Ya because winning a natty every other year doesnt start recruiting itself.

O saying this is just further proof he is too prideful to make smart decisions. Dude never should have said that. We dont do it the right way 100% of the time. Just another excuse for not landing a recruit. One that takes us down a road we dont want to explore.

There's an unspoken courtesy in the world of college football recruiting. You don't rat me out and I won't rat you out.

It's mutually assured destruction; if you blow the whistle on me I'll do the same to you.

Beats me. He's saying because he doesn't go as far with his tactics as Bama does that means he can claim some kind of moral high ground.

If you're doing something, you might as well do it to the best of your ability. Just get the recruits, no one cares how if another program is willing to go there.

I’m sure everyone cheats or bends rules but I continuesly read it’s not onnscale to which Alabama does it.

and that's pretty much ALL you will ever know although sometimes a family rats a team out (but damn seldom).

no one has time for the spy games you suggest. put yourself in the recruits place; many are poor and their families always have been. they consider any "stuff" they get as legal booty and keep their mouth shut. I suspect you would (and I) too.

I don't wonder "why" we said it, I wonder what he meant (specifically). I doubt he meant that LSU escorts our recruits to church and has them do community service in the ghetto on official trips.

big surprise, there are some recruits that "want something" or they aren't signing. I doubt there are shortages of programs willing to give them "something" to sign.

People say "we do it too" because they think it makes them seem reasonable. It doesn't - it just outs them as unknowledgable. No one is doing what Bama is doing. Auburn cranked out the kind of cash Bama has for a once in a generation player while Bama does it routinely. We deal in connections and favors - Bama deals in payroll, housing, cars, jobs - you name it. Not even Ohio State, Oklahoma, or A&M have rolled out checks like Bama.

Ole Miss got caught because they did some really stupid things, such as signing 5 star players that never visited your campus. Throw on top of that Leo Lewis opens his mouth and gets immunity to tell all! Same thing happened to SMU when they got out of control. Everyone in the SWC knew cheating was going on, but when you get reckless, things can fall apart real fast.

Texas A&M has more money than anybody, you'd think they'd be winning the West every year. I wonder what's different?

Read the yahoo article on dj fluker. If nothing happened after that then bama is bulletproof. They had signatures, a paper trail, and whitnesses. Nothing came of it.

Someone made an excellent point about the IRS and these guys not paying taxes on the income, as well as the bagmen not paying taxes on the payment.

I wish the IRS would step in and put a stop to all of it.

Audit everyone and enforce the rules the impotent NCAA refuses to even try to enforce.

Well it is the same reason the IRS is a completely blind organization to a certain demographic. If they did pursue either group there would be riots of racism claims. Despite an entire generation of men making $80k+/yr cash and unreported for most of their adult lives. You'll never see an auditor go after them or NCAA recruits

I think Bama is just more blatant, i.e. directly offering money, where other schools, similar to LSU, beat around the bush a little more.

The only source of anything remotely implicating LSU in the Leo Lewis recruitment is from.......Leo Lewis.

A proven liar and an insinuation of an offer of money he did not receive is not proof of anything.
