Tolliver 6'1" 180 4.5
Reed 5'11" 173 4.59
Tolliver>>>>>Reed imo and he's what WR 6 right now?

Watch it. You're going to get accused of "not wanting him just because he's an Auburn lean."

He ran a 4.59 at the Scout Combine in New Orleans.

I fixed it for you and took the e out of it! Please explain that quote? I really don't know how to take that quote.

It's not between Auburn and Florida. It's between Auburn and Oregon. It's not like you are gonna need this guy. For goodness' sake, give us a chance to compete with bama, why don't you, dammit.

Regarding Reed, I just want to get one of the three - Reed, Wright, or Fobbs, and I really don't have a strong opinion on one particular one as a "must get." What I know I don't want: Reed to Auburn, Wright to Alabama, and Fobbs to A&M. That is unless we somehow happen to sign Darius White.
Don't believe Wright will be part of this class. He is dragging his feet and somewhat abrasive, but maybe he will warm up. the staff would love to have him though, for sure.

a good friend of mine is a coach at Thibodaux (not football) and is in daily contact with other coaches. Without getting into details of who my friend is, its basically not looking good for LSU. Supposedly, when asked if he was going to LSU, in private, his answer was "hell no." Remember somebody saying they saw Reed in a Alabama jacket? Apparently there may be something to it because he is starting to look there as well. I said this a few days ago and no one took notice. I don't think he knows where he is going but don't be suprised if he doesn't squeeze every bit of attention and all the free recruiting trips as he can out of this.
Disclaimer: I am just repeating what I was told to me from someone that is somewhat close to Thibodaux and Reed.

This thread reinforces my belief that LSU fans, for some reason, can't comprehend that not everyone from LA is a LSU fan.
Auburn is undoubtedly a better fit for him, IMO.
40 times at Scout Combines are notoriously slow, so the fact he still ran a sub-4.6 is actually impressive.

he should be all lsu with lorio there but who knows
Everything I have heard or read suggests that Lorio is pushing him hard to LSU

he thinks auburn and Florida are better fits for him
Having watched all three teams multiple times this year, that would be an intelligent conclusion for him to arrive at

maybe he just doesn't want to go to lsu. just because. i know a lot of guys who were like it between football and basketball.
Posted on 10/16/09 at 4:50 pm to Commando
from everything I've heard he doesn't really like lorio, therefore he doesn't like lorio pushing him. that was another part of my conversation from my friend that coaches at thibodaux.

He will go to LSU, no other option for him there.

Maybe he wants to be part of a long line of Auburn WRs in the NFL?
Oh wait.
Well maybe he wants to be another Malzahn WR in the NFL?
Oh wait.
Well maybe it's the lack of recent LSU WRs in the NFL? Oh crap, forgot about Henderson, Reed and Doucet.
Well, LSU WRs aren't exactly first rounders?
What? Oh, whoops, forgot about Clayton, Bowe and Davis.
Look, there is a truth in life that if you are good enough for the NFL, you'll be good enough at any school. No one sneaks into the NFL. So if Reed's rationale is that he's worried about playing time at LSU, he has basically admitted to himself that he is not elite. And if he's not elite, then this is no loss.
Anyway, something is wrong if a WR is picking Auburn over LSU. Something is seriously wrong if said WR is from Lafourche Parish. And if I am pinpointing what is wrong, I'm guessing it's the psyche of the player.
I hope I am wrong. Reed appears to be talented and can help the (real) Tigers. But if he's a self-doubter and goes to Auburn, I'll just wish him well, hope the Auburn degree helps him some day (Ha!) and remind him that there's a very real possibility he will have to meet Mr. Loston across the middle someday, in which case hopefully Obama will have passed that prohibition on denial of medical care for "preexisting conditions"!
