Is it possible that Pratt was told by coaches that he was not to enroll in January unless he was paying his own way since his scholarship offer was contingent on someone else not signing with LSU?

No way in hell. If this was the case, the coaches would not have completely ignored Michael.

Maybe germans but I noticed that rivals is no longer listing Pratt as an LSU commitment.

Does the clearing house papers go through the university you will attend, your high school, or you personally?

So to me, its the University's part to try and "hurry up" the process and also keep the kid in the know of what is happening. So to me Pratt has a good excuse to blame LSU and also partially his high school. This is a very disappointing situation.

If that somebody is a 4 or 5 star player then it would soften the blow of losing him. But if we sign a 2 or 3 star player then we will drop in the rankings, not that it really makes a big difference except for those other schools who make a big thing about who finishes the highest.

If the stories are true about him getting his wallet and other stuff stolen on the first day he was here, then I can't blame him for being upset, feeling betrayed, and wanting to reconsider his decision of LSU. If my stuff was stolen the first day of school, I'd think "what the hell kind of place is this" and "did I make a mistake by choosing a school that has these kind of people here that would steal your stuff".

I truly hope he reconsiders his decision to decommit from LSU and realises it was an isolated offense and could have happened anywhere. But if he doesn't, then I hope the young man can find what he's looking for elsewhere...

This is also just bad PR for the program when something happens likes this. I hope we can get Pratt back, but from reports he says LSU is out of the picture now.

about his status at LSU?

perhaps he had the bait and switch and was told to play LB?

something happened that is well beyond not being cleared to play for LSU. something very, very bad

Why are geeks compelled to give their opinions about subjects they know virtually nothing about?

Who gives a shite about rankings except for the fact that it means we are getting good players?

The bad thing about this situation is losing a good player who was solid on his commitment. Also, the publicity is less than desirable for something like this - as someone already pointed out.

In the grand scheme, likely won't be a huge blow, but it is an unfortunate turn of events for both parties.

we'll probably never know what truly happened

Am I the only one here that suspects some underhanded shuffling going on wit the Fedora brothers? I find that when things don't add up (and they don't here), you should look around to see what other factors may be in play. Maybe there's a lot of blustering about what did or didn't happen at LSU to keep the attention off of the fact that OSU is gonna swipe this kid.

BTW, visited his MySpace page. Real boy scout. We've had enough prima donnas here over the last few years and if his handling of this situation is indicative of what we can expect, let him go. After RP, this team doesn't need another cancer in the locker room.

Take it FWIW, another rumor at best, this is just what the most "inside" guy I know of said about the situation (he used to be a field scout for Scout)...he said he talked to someone close to the situation and he said Pratt was hearing rumors of Miles putting him on defense so when he got to LSU he asked Miles and Miles supposedly told him he wants him on the defensive side of the ball but his first shot will come at RB. Apparently this upset Pratt enough to leave LSU.

Once again, just take it FWIW as being just another rumor since no one really knows what's going on, but that's the best I could seem to come up with from a legit guy.

TBird, that account makes more sense than the bullshite that's being circulated on here. I am taking it for what it's worth, and I uderstand that it's simply more hearsay, but at least it's plausible. The other account is swiss cheese. And, it only reinforces my belief that if he has that type pf attitude, then let him go. Regardless of his talent level, we don't need that kind of crap. Good luck in the Big 12.
