How bout an NCAA update to the 25 limit?

It is a different climate in college football. With the addition of the transfer portal, the 25 limit needs to be examined imo. If a scholarship player enters the portal & leaves in the first two years, give the school an additional scholarship in the next recruiting season.

Personally, I think the policy needs to be the exact opposite. The 25 needs to be locked down harder. No more than 2 rollovers to the next class. Any other unused spots out of the 25 can be used for transfers only. 1 blueshirt and 1 gray shirt per class and no more. And walk-ons can’t go on scholarship for 2 years minimum. Take out all of the loopholes and exceptions. Lock it down and make it more even.
As for transfers, they should have nothing to do with recruiting spots. For every 2 players you lose to the portal or grad transfer, you get 1 free take from the portal, grad transfer or JUCO without losing one of your 25. This would help a little with the huge backlog in the portal.

Needs to be reduced significantly. Maybe 20/75.

If this ever happens, Saban and his protege Kirby would have a field day pushing out marginal performers and signing new 5* recruits who are willing to ride the pine. If anything they should reduce scholarships to take away the advantage of the 5-6 top dogs of cfb and bring in some parity to the sport.

LSU does the same thing but the difference is we give replacement scholarships to marginal players rather than let them expire and Bama is finding ways to get incoming players to wait and utilize them thus expanding the class signees...
If you want to reform something then make replacement scholarships be used on players who have a minimum of one complete year on the team as a walkon and make that player burn a year of eligibility.
Very few other teams can do what Bama is doing because if the other teams tried the recruit would walk to another team for a full ride immediately.
