This may not be a popular opinion, and I’m sure the 2 guys we got today will be good, but to me this means we know we are going to miss out on some guys.

Or we're not as high on some of our current commits as we once were.

Or, we're not going to wait around for guys to "play the game" and taking the bird in the hand and will figure out the numbers later if some of the bigger fish decide to hop aboard.

It's way to early to read into anything regarding class construction. If it was November, December or January, I'd agree with you, but it's only June. There's lots of time for everything to sort out.

What's the risk?

Every year we think LSU wont be able to sign all the kids interested/they want.

And every year LSU usually has to reach late to fill a class with a back burner type (like the DE from Mobile Desmond Little).

It will work itself out.

My preference to finish out would be...

DL Guillory
DL Lee
OT 1 out of Dumervil, Crawford, Walker
C Van Pran
1 high end RB

In that interview by jimmy smith that someone linked, he said he thought this was calculated by the staff to stagger the class so that you don’t have a logjam of high school players in so many areas. It creates depth where we needed to replace players that transferred.

Risk is pissing off school/coaches that you may need in the future.
Especially if it’s local schools.

Checking these recruiting sites he doesn't seem to be high on LSU. I know, don't put too much emphasis on these sites. But that would be a very good finish. And if some better dlineman hops on board, say Broughton, I think Berry may end up somewhere else. I really like Ford and Dumervil though. I hope we get Van Pran, just seems he is interested in going out-of-state. Numbers are definitely getting tight though, and it's just June. With 19 commits so far and 6 months before signing, I don't think all these committed will end up in this class. Just depends on who else wants in. I just hope O finishes this class really strong.
