He's a scorer. Lead EYBL in scoring this summer at 29.5 PPG
48% FG / 89% FT / 39% 3 PT (83 ATT) in 13 games at EYBL
Even more impressive is he averaged 26 points per game at Oak Hill last season. For those that dont know, it's a completely loaded basketball team every year that sends multiple 4 and 5 star kids to major programs and he did that still as a junior there.

And to note Cook won Louisiana Gatorade player of the year over Beekman as well.
Not to slight Beekman, they would both look good in P&G, he averaged a TRIPLE DOUBLE for crying out loud. He was never going to come here, not a native.

Good point. Just looked at last year's roster. Cole Anthony was a senior on that team.

Im not sure I believe Wade wanted "Cook over Beekman." Beekman is ranked higher on every recruiting service and they both had offers. That being said I think the staff should be fine having Cook instead. Cook and Walker actually gave Beekman and SLV one of their only losses last year and Cook had 40 in the game. I honestly feel like Cooo may be badly underrated at this point, in part due to his size. But youre right. Beekman is from Wisconsin and had no strong ties to Louisiana so getting him would always have been tougher.

must have gotten a strong arse offer

Believe what you want. Coach Wade prioritized Cook over a couple of other guys. He’s loved Cook since he got the job.
And yea Coach Wade is definitely ok with “settling” for Cook if that’s what you want to believe happened.
Geaux Tigers!

He did, but he would absolutely take both too. Wade always wanted Cook and put Tasmin Mitchell as his highest priorty as soon as he was on the staff.

Beekman is higher because he's bigger (6'2) and more focused on basketball, keep in mind Cook played football every year too, he wasn't even sure he was going to be a basketball player in college till probably last season. He could go to a lot of schools for football too.
Both players really are great but the ranking difference really doesnt make much sense. If Beekman is a Top 60 player Cook easily is Top 100 at bare minimum too. Sometimes they put a lot of emphasis on size though and I think that's one of Cook's biggest knocks despite him being a very solidly built 6 foot. Sharife Cooper is built smaller than Cook but is a 5-star right now, but he's like a Tremont clone almost.
