Heard on ESPN expect a 1,000 players in the portal this year

I never realized it could be that many, they didn’t clarify when the final total might be made, guessing spring.

Eventually, there will be an equilibrium.

421 players from FCS schools
total of 1,127
represents a 44 percent increase from the previous record-setting day of 780 last year

My first reaction is that it's really unfortunate that so many are willing to risk their opportunity for a free education. Thinking further, I wonder how many of these kids were at risk of not having their scholarship renewed or what general percentage are asked to look elsewhere if things aren't progressing as planned.
