It’s kinda a pipe dream. Just the thought of LSU pulling in the #1 QB in the nation a consensus 5 star from California has a weird sound to it. Even though he won’t stick on the coast. You can probably expect him to go to Clemson, redshirt his freshman year under Lawerence and be a hesiman candidate in his Sophmore and Junior years.

He's 6'3" 185. Good times on the Rant if he signs.

Had a chance to see him play against Ruston. He lit Ruston up that night. If I recall, he only missed 3-4 throws. Every ball was right on the money. The HC at Ruston coached at Longview for years as the OC for Coach King. They are still close friends. It was announced this week that Longview and West Monroe will play Week 4 in Shreveport’s Independence Stadium. This is NOT part of the Battle on the Border. Looking forward to traveling over to see that one.

Haynes King is better than either QB LSU has committed. I would find a way to make room for him. Great Leader. Accurate. Arm Strength. Above Average Athlete. Needs to put on some weight. I know, sounds like Brennan. Hope he lands at LSU!

If he is better than both of the other two commits, it's easy to find a way for him at LSU. The weaker of the other two is gone.

At this point, he’s farther along than Finley as a passer and with his mobility. Johnson has been exposed to a lot of great coaching from his dad playing in the nfl. I would imagine King is the top priority. After that, it’s a toss up with who we keep. I could see Finley being the choice since he is an in state kid.

And Chris Vallery is Mike Vallery’s son. Mike won a state championship at Ouachita when Neville and Ruston were dominant forces in NE LA. Chris was a great HS Qb as well.

Finley seems like the best choice. You get one guy in King who’s more of a sure bet then you get to take a chance on Finley who could turn out to be the best of the bunch over time. If he doesn’t develop like you want then you’ve already got King

I think taking Finley as an in state guy is a smart move politically too

I have family that work at Longview High. Kid is a straight arrow perfect gentleman and has incredible upside. Has been a big LSU fan his entire life. I hesitate to say it but we are “his dream school” . He’s very Hodson like to me.

And the search continues. Didn’t you guys just do this with Brennen?

Brennan was never this highly thought of by evaluators. Our fans love him though and I think that's your point.

Take King and let he chips fall where they may with the other 2. That's my opinion. If we want 2 we can find another willing to come in if both decide to move on.

Everyone was all on board(only talking to the critics of dropping one of the current guys) with taking DJ U regardless of the effect on the the other 2 so why the conflict now? This kid is actually gettable.

The staff has kept chasing DJ U and now this kid even with the 2 commits. Should raise antennas that the staff isn't content with the 2 we have committed.

I watched him play in the TX high school championship game. Looks like a solid QB. Body is kinda lean right now, but he has the frame to put on some weight. Played very heady. Didn't make a lot of mistakes. Put up some pretty gaudy numbers this year and won a bunch of awards. Was offered by TCU a few days before the championship game. His father, John King, is his head coach (Longview, TX). HIs dad is a graduate of Springhill HS and was a storied OL at Northwestern State in Natchitoches. Haynes comes from a quality, stable family, as well. His dad's parents are well respected, long-time retired educators in Springhill. Interesting offer. Next time I see his grandparents, I'll ask them for the "skinny" on Haynes' feelings toward LSU.

Sounds good to me. Query: if LSU were to be fortunate enough to also reel in a certain #1 QB from California whose name I can't spell, who is the first to get processed out of Finley, Johnson, and King?

If we landed D.J. UG we probably wouldn’t get any other QB. He would be our only take.

I like Max Johnson but he plays on a terrible football team and doesnt even sniff any competitive football in his league. Its hard to gage where he is against top talent. He has great bloodlines but he really needs to transfer out of where he is to prove he is a top QB. I think he can develop into a solid QB but to me its going to be a complete shell shock for this kid transitioning from what he plays against now to division one football or even division two ... that just how bad his league and team is.

TJ Finley is kind of in the same boat. Pontchatoula is awful and the coaches there really arent able to provide the right offense for him. His coach is a master of the veer not a offense for him to throw it around. Finley has all the tool to be successful but just not the right coaching to get him to where he needs to be. If I were him Id try to transfer to IMG.

Haynes King is in the perfect situation. His dad is his head coach and they have him in an offense for him to succeed surrounded by guys who can help him show off his skills. He plays great competition and is a proven winner in big time games/situations. He runs the type of offense LSU is trying to develop and is seems to have strong connections to the state.

The best choice for LSU is to try and take Haynes King and TJ Finley. King seems like a great option a few years from now and Finley could be great if developed.

Finley's arm is phenomenal but Haynes is at another level.
