All I ask is that we don’t pay top dollar for a coach to produce a mediocre product on the field.

Is that too much to ask?

Definitely don’t disagree.

But the reality of the situation since 2019 has been exactly that.

I expect there to be some bumps in the road as Kelly rebuilt the program, but I did not expect it to carry into year 3. Seems like it’ll be the same trend in year 4

Geauxedits comments last night alluded to there are more hits to this class coming. I’m concerned that the deer in the headlights look that Kelly has had the past 3 games is boiling over to recruiting. We have the worst DB’s and LB’s I’ve seen at LSU, and the young guys aren’t ready. Every offseason as players cycle out more holes are created than are filled roster wise. The perception is that something isn’t right at LSU, Herbstreit called it in the Bama game. Year 3 with Kelly and these aren’t LSU quality players on the field.

Woodward has been good at non-football hires and massively bad at football hires. He should take some massive heat over the ongoing Kelly debacle and his continuing 10 year contracts. Nobody should get 10 yr contracts in the current football landscape or should have performance clauses by year 5.

Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen have done wonders for Ole Piss defensive line.

I know a few Ole Piss alumni and doners that work in my field. They're going to be spending big money in the portal again this off season and they seem to be good with it. I find this more disheartening than the Underhill debacle.

Yes everyone knows HS rankings are still iffy but when a kid is ranked #1 overall like Vince young Trevor Lawrence Jeremiah smith etc. the hit rate is highest probability they can give.

No names mentioned but it was clear to me that the two 5* corners are at risk.

He did say that he wasn’t referring to Meadows because that one has been coming for weeks.

So that $6 million over 3 or 4 years is now "freed up" to throw at other prospects.

Unless it was earmarked for an actual QB. Someone had to dig deep for that money on a gamechanger, not an OL man

I went back and read the thread again, it was late last night when I was trying to catch up on all the recruiting board posts.
Another poster mentioned Meadows and Pickett, one already being gone and the other at a high risk. He agreed and said a few more hits are coming.

The problem is that coaches like Mark Stoops, Caglietti?? at IU, all make big dollars:

Kirby Smart $13.3 million
Dabo Swinney $11.1 million
Steve Sarkisian $10.6 million
Lincoln Riley $10 million
Ryan Day $10 million
Mike Norvell $10 million
Kalen DeBoer $10 million
Brian Kelly $10 million
Mark Stoops $9 million
Lane Kiffin $9 million
Eliah Drinkwitz $9 million
Josh Heupel $9 million
James Franklin $8.5 million
Dan Lanning $8.2 million
Brent Venables $8.2 million

Speaking of Lagway, had a client this morning who knows the family saying he's thinking of transferring, and LSU and Bama are top considerations.

I wasn't aware that was even a possibility, but with NIL nowadays...
