Guys who string coaches along and flip at the last minute aren't players we want

I've been watching recruiting for years. These guys almost always flame out because their attitude stinks. Now, I wish we hadn't processed the players we did who WERE committed, but mistakes happen. However, I'm not too worried about those who flipped today. We want high character guys who want to be here. I'd rather have a team of 3 and 4 star who have drive and character than a smattering of 5 stars who are prima donnas and make it all about them.

I do feel bad we turned away players who wanted to be here. My hope is that Coach O doesn't let success cause him to bypass character for talent. We need both.

And what if we flip from someone else? Not a player we want, too? Get real, it happens and we lost out. Nut up.

What about teams that fail to honor in-state commitments?

Being recruited is very much like interviewing for jobs straight out of college. The top students get job multiple offers and they pick the best job for themselves and their family. Its not personal when a kid a school other than LSU. Be happy for them.

This IS true. Rarely rarely do these flippers ever amount to sh**

There has to be some measurable correlation between having little to no integrity and also not having a work ethic...

I thought about that. Who are the players that we flipped at the last minute that turned out to be game changers? I'm not saying that there aren't any, but I just can't think of them.

Arden Key was last minute, but was he committed somewhere else? He had issues of his own.

Guys who flip on signing day and lead coaches along and tell them they're coming and then don't aren't really guys I want anyway. That's a character issue. Either get you character straightened out or flame out.

Jamar Chase would be at Florida right now with your kind of thinking. Rahkim and Burton was processed. LSU do not need them. LSU has receivers Chase Marshall Lee McMath Kirklin Palmer Jenkins Moore Boutte. If Moss comes back with Gilbert on board I'm looking forward to a lot of 2 tight end sets. Coach O will go after more depth in the trenches. Not worried about those guys flipping at all LSU has more than enough pass catchers. Just relax. Geaux Tigers!!

If you think we "processed" Rahkim, you're out of your mind.

No doubt. Wisconsin kicks arse in their conference every year with a 40-something ranked recruiting class. They recruit the mental and emotional part of the player as much as the physical talent. The old saying, you can't measure heart. Our own Joe Burrow is another great example of this. The Patriots and Saints have taken the same approach with High character locker room guys and it's worked out well for them. Much better than the All-Star Primadonna teams.

I don’t think Burton and Rahkim were processed , I just think they wanted to do all the eating and not share in the success of the offensive production . Prima Donna’s ,but I really would’ve like to have had M.Burns in our defensive backfield

They were processed in my opinion. LSU wr room is stacked. They did not need Burton or Rahkim especially with Marshall and Chase coming back. If those 2 was not coming back you would be free to melt. LSU does need to build superior depth at ol and dl that's what wins championships. The stars behind the names would have been great but LSU filled the need for receiver with the 2 Louisiana boys. Next year there will be 5 Rahkim Jarrett's in Louisiana hell receivers grow on trees in this state.
Have LSU ever had a problem signing receivers? There will be 2 top receivers coming out next year from Louisiana one is already committed to LSU. Coach O will add at least 3 big boys and a rb with 2 spots for best available athletes or transfers. Next class 2021 the Tigers will hit the skill positions hard because they will be solid at ol and dl after this class is done.

P.S.

The sky is not falling because some receivers from out of state chose other programs. This is Louisiana where receivers are easier to find than shrimp in your gumbo.

Yes Burns was a head-scratcher but I trust Coach O and the rest of the coaches.

Of course we would.
But some of you act like we didn't work magic for Sam Montgomery,JaMarcus Russell, Dwayne Bowe, Patrick Peterson, and so on.

Flips happen. We didn't deserve any of those I mentioned. But they came here and we were very happy about it.
