re: Guys - I love LSU and LSU football - I've been here on TD since 2003

Saban calling it quits as the head of the strongest program we've quite possibly ever seen, was my sign that college football as we've known it died.

I love lsu. My daughter graduated there. I’m an Ohio state grad myself so I’m pulling for them to destroy Michigan this year and Underwood next year. Nil has destroyed college sports. I have had season tickets for many years,
My daughter lives in Baton Rouge so I’ll prob keep them for entertainment purposes. It’s not that he flipped, it that he was here a few weeks ago with his family and led us to believe it wasn’t the money and he was still solid. Makes me think less of him as a person. He’s just for the money.

whoever has allowed the game we love to stoop to this level of corruption and greed needs to rresign.
Make athletes employees of the school. The salary can be a percentage of the total money the athletic department makes. For every year they are the same school, the percentage goes up. After 1 full year at a school they can accept outside NIL deals to expand their earnings.
That still would not be a perfect system but at least it can actually be regulated.

This post resonates well with me. I never expected this to happen, but it is reality. There is simply too much money in sports to even fathom. I don't know what the answer is. Average fans making a decent living have been painted into a corner in regard to entertainment options. For the sake of the sports we love, we've had to tolerate the political BS and deal with the constant victim mentality of all the millionaires and billionaires playing a game. Now, with all the money involved, players are sitting out with a bobo, quitting on teams when things don't go their way, and getting coaches fired. All this, while the off the field actions of some (many criminal offenses) are swept under rug for that sake of their ability to play. All the things that would get you and I fired from a job and potentially ruin our future. The is truly insanity. I used to enjoy following recruiting, now even that has been soiled. Through all this, I still want to pretend things are as they were. I don't think what we are seeing is sustainable, but I also don't know what the solution is.

“Dey deserve to get all the money they can! Let them get paid! Make a billion if you can, I say! Get yours. They deserve it! Look at all the money they bring into the university!”
Lest we forget the majority only get the opportunity to do this solely because of athletic ability. From ‘can’t qualify for college’ to “f you, pay me!” They’re already getting the best of everything from their school, sans, a well deserved and higher stipend. Best housing, best food, best training, best tutoring, best transportation and lodging. Unlimited apparel. Admiration and adoration of the local community and student body. Having to remain minimally qualified in your grades to remain in school (and strings get pulled for that)
Put a cap on this or create a minor league that’s independent of cfb. Yeah, I’ll watch the “lesser” product.

The adults are the ones paying not the kids. Blame the adults. They're the ones that made billions off free labor for a century prior to NIL.
I get that it's skewed our feelings about the game we love but in no way should we hold the kids to a higher standard than the adults. The kids are taking advantage of a culture created by the adults. We just can't accept that the tables have been turned. The schools breed communists willfully now but hate that the students have more power than they do.

Yeah I agree. I don’t get near as excited College football anymore. Eventually they gonna realize they screwed up when people stop watching it because it will become watered down and boring
