This has to be a shot at Fisher since he de-committed pretty quickly after national signing day.

I think he'll be better than Mett.

People forget just how good Mett was his senior year. When it was 3rd and 10 or longer I swear to god I didn't sweat it whatsoever.. I'm pretty sure we led the country in 3rd down conversion percentage. Mett just always made the play. Granted, we did have a potential Hall of Famer on one side and another pro bowl receiver. I personally think Jarvis is the better pure receiver but Odell just has the speed and athleticism to separate himself. Jarvis is my favorite LSU player of all time though.

But back on topic, if Gunnell can end up being better than Mett, WITH Marshall and Chase on the outside WITH Noah Cain, God willing, we could be scary.

that's pretty harsh coming from a recruit pre-signing.

It's also par for the course and part of the game. Granted some coaches go way too far.

Did that come from the father? I expect things like that to come from some parents. Well, maybe not expect, it would be less surprising.

Kudos to all you recruiting optimists. I don’t know how y’all have the energy after the Dylan Moses and Patrick Surtain Jr episodes.

It's recruiting, shite happens! You just have to let it go. There will always be others studs and more let downs. Some will come and some won't.

What we do need to do and I agree with what many have said is get this offense in gear and going. Show these top notch QB's that we do have the offense in place that they would want to come and play in.

I just have the feeling in my gut that we will finally get this thing in gear with the WR and QB talent we finally have along which will be a very good OL and talented TE's. It's now or never!

Let's not forget about the Cam Rob, Devonta Smith, Shyheim Carter, Wilson, and Tim Wilson episodes.

And let's not forget about Matt Womack episode. That one cost us visits/sanctions. Hootie would have if they had bit on the trap laid for use by Saban/Hootie's Party.

Oh, and 2/5 episode

/sarcasm

None of these destroyed the program. We will win some and lose some- to Bama, to TAMU, to FSU, to UF, and to many others. Some by choice (Adams for Hootie), some because we got out worked, many because we just lose the battle.

I don't see thinking we have a chance when the recruit is saying we have a chance as being pessimist or optimist. It just is.

And for the record, I almost got banned for getting pissy at other posters putting stock into Dylan Moses (and father) comments about our coaching situation. Dylan had already decommitted from us and, in some cases, committed to Bama. But yet a high schooler committed to Bama has a say in our coach?

THAT is a step way past being an 'optimist'. So while I do get your viewpoint, I see it as being just as reactionary as the people who thought we should base our future on what a recruit and his lawyer father thought of us as supporters of our competition. That was based on Moses being the end all be all of our program... he was not. Just like Surtain, or any of the above listed.

losing Moses wasn't a big deal. He's good but not special. We've got equally good lbs. Surtain probably a different story but so far I don't like his predictable spoiled persona.

LSU didn't have the QB to show a strong passing game. I mean, when DJ has a 15 yard gap between him and the nearest defender and the QB throws a duck so dead rigor mortis is already setting in and the ball doesn't come close to DJ, I mean, how can you expect a QB like that to be able to show a strong passing game? Etling was just too inconsistent. But, Brennan throws a bird of a different feather. He don't throw ducks, he throws eagles.

We've got to start hitting on championship caliber quarterbacks or we won't be able to be better than 8-5, 9-4... Gunnell would be great to have.

Yes and he should just go ahead and commit to the Tigers now!!

He's liked LSU forever, just go ahead and commit and then start helping to recruit. O is building a real passing attack here at LSU. We will sign our RBs, it's Louisiana, and LSU. We needed some beef on the DL and at LB. we needed some real OTs, and we needed some WRs. We now have all that.

We simply need to keep the momentum going and build from it. Get some nice corners this year, RBs, QBs, and fill our OL and DL with depth. Keep at it and LSU will be right there with the top teams once again. We just have to keep at it. Build that depth across the entire roster.

Article seems to say he plans to commit before the season begins. Don't know for sure if that favors us or not but I'm thinking not.

one thing it does is tell us how hard to push for other QB's. waiting until the end game isn't good. we need a strong fairly early commitment at that position. I would say if he doesn't commit then, expand the search.

I seriously doubt that kid is coming to LSU. Put your feet in his shoes... Why would he?

By the summer time it's too late for us, based on history. Most of the decent ones commit early. We don't stand a good chance on the ones waiting until the last minute to decide. And that's not me talking about of my arse. Just look at past results. Teams like to build a recruiting class around a QB.

They can't put all of their eggs in one basket, again. This is about risk assessment. If we're not more than a 50/50 proposition with this guy, we need to hedge our bets and look at other QBs. If Gunnell has a problem with us protecting our backside, then he's probably not a guy to build around anyway.

Put yourself in his shoes, would you want a program to be targeting you and no one else? Most kids, while flattered, wouldn't be comfortable being in a position where a school is putting that much pressure on them, and not adequately planning. It'd be a red flag for me.

Why the hell wouldnt he? If he’s as good as advertise he could be a god here. Ensminger is going to toss it around the yard, he proved that two years ago.

I agree. From what I have seen of Brennan, he has the potential and attributes to be an elite passer. Excellent pocket presence, he can see the field, excellent accuracy, good arm strength, reminds me of Montana in size and delivery. I haven't seen much of Narcisse to evaluate him. But, I see Brennan as a step up in the right direction with the QB system.

Finally, we'll be able to nickname a QB "Gunner".
