Sounds like Scott is a high character person along the lines of LF.

Didn't we have twin brothers from Zachary back in the 90's - one of them got a speeding ticket for doing 100+ in his Mustang on Hwy 30? I believe he said he was cleaning out bad gas.

Karl and Victor Jones both star running-backs from Zachary played for LSU, they were brothers not sure about being twins. Victor ended up playing pro ball for Houston as a special teams guy I believe.

I just hope he isn't another Russell shep. I mean a qb that can run and throw in high school but not the next level or the coaches don't use him the right way.

Shep was never coming to LSU to play QB.

I'm sorry who from Zachary should LSU have offered that we did not??

Also color mr shocked Scott's HS coach thinks the world of him. I thought he was going to say Scott is terrible and LSU should not have offered him

Curious, but how many Zachary kids have signed with SEC schools recently? Don't believe it's a matter of LSU not wanting Zachary kids...moreso that they haven't had many LSU/SEC quality players over the past few years. JMO

Agreed. ZHS is not really the factory that some other schools have been. LSU goes after the talent wherever it is.

I think that you're being a bit too cynical here. Not sure if you listened to the interview, but I thought the coach tempered his comments pretty well. I have no reason to doubt that he's that special talent that rarely comes around, especially for a high school coach. The kid's stats and championship game MVP speaks volumes.

that wasn't the point Brewerton was trying to make. He said that because it's true. There were no underlying intentions...like trying to say LSU should show them more love.

It was more just part of the conversation. He knows he doesn't get many kids through that area, and implies as much, so he was just explaining why Scott may not be an LSU lock his whole life.

and stevo above said it well

Thanks Duckie - I was just typing essentially the same reply. I didn't get the sense that he was butt hurt about it, just a statement of fact that they don't spend a lot of time there as they may other schools. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

Right. The last SEC caliber player from Zachary was Leonard Scott and he went to Tennessee. That was the late 90s. Since then we've had a few walkons at LSU and some non-bcs conference types (I guess that's not the correct term anymore). Now re: baseball that is an entirely different discussion.

Well, ZHS is still well behind Catholic in baseball talent.

I wouldn't say well behind, but I won't argue that Catholic puts out quality talent more often than Zachary. PM doesn't like Zachary and that is easy to see.
