I’ve been extremely critical of Dennis Johnson and Orgeron about the lack of impact Dlineman in the past few classes. Add Guillory to this one and we’re set up.

Meatball needed a big class full of impact players and he’s making it happen.

I’d still love to see some more meat on the Oline but imo Jaquelin Roy was the most important recruit in this class.

His lack of experience was concerning but if he starts to get some confindence, watch out. Hes charismatic and being so young he can connect to those high schoolers. He will do good things here if hes able to stick around.

Not so much the experience, if he puts this starting Dline group in the NFL at decent picks, lookout. I think they can go in the 2nd - 5th round depending on their year but Ika and Shelvin can be the future studs. If they have a huge year and the media hypes them, that credit will go to meatball. Then the sky is the limit. He just needs to be able to show he can put some guys high in the draft.

I honestly think Aranda’s defense makes it tougher to recruit dlinemen. His 3-4 scheme specifically requires dlinemen to use 1 gap penetration.

The linebackers are the ones tasked with making plays and dlinemen are mostly used to free up those LBs. So as a result, we’ve had a ton of success recruiting linebackers lately and not as much recruiting linemen.

I honestly think scheme has had a lot to do with recruiting defense the last few years.

It's not always about the position coaches in recruiting. They often receive too much credit for one class and too much blame for another.

I don’t like to be critical of our coaches but if meatball can recruit this well on the d-line, it makes you wonder how bad our o-line coach must come off for tackles to be allergic to us.

What? It's not like the 3-4 is some odd defense that no one else uses. You are over thinking this.

the reason our DL haven't been making a lot of plays lately and the LB's have is pretty simple and has nothing to do with scheme. We just have been getting more talented LB's lately who make more plays and maybe slackening on the DL lately, thus they make less plays.

I am not trying to pull credit from Meatball but CEO has re-inserted himself into the DL business at least from a recruiting perspective. He made that statement at media days I believe.
