I find this really hard to believe. All you hear is players raving about the relationships with the coaching staff. To each his own, but I’m not sure I understand the rush to commit when his recruitment is just starting to pick up steam.

Harold Joiner said the same thing. Staff communication just completely went dark on him. I'm sure the circumstances were slightly different in Joiner's case, but this is not unprecedented.

Im sure its just because we mostly follow LSU recruiting but man does this seem to happen with a good bit of recruits.

Calm down.. this thread wasgreat, but quad was never offered,
He wa promised a call after they saw him throw. That's basically it. Joiner had an offer.
Quad is a fell good story and he liked LSU. He ha the ability to earn an offer during this season, and apparently is deciding not to wait. Acting like we had to offer in June or he would bolt is probably part of the decision the coaches felt uneasy being forced.
IMO, its kinda dishonest by the Quad camp to say he loves LSU but demands a offer before he even plays his senior year...and why? Because his stock is rising?
Quad and coach, you should play this season out if LSU is a dream offer...cause that's what you told us.
If not, we understand you dont have enough patience to ride out a few months.

Except the fact other schools fill up their allotments at positions too. And you want Quad to wait on an LSU offer that may never come. LSU has offers out to other QBs that are higher on their lists and some pipe dream offers. You have a LSU QB recruits father coming out saying coaches told him they weren't taking a QB in this class. Quad hasn't heard from the coaches since the camp. And it's not hard for someone on LSU's end to pick up a phone to at least touch base with Quad and let him know they are still reviewing film and haven't made a decision yet. The writing is pretty much on the wall.
And other schools that have made offers to Quad are not going to hold a spot for him to see if he gets his "dream" offer from LSU. They are going to move on without him. And there is obviously a staff he already likes/loves and the only thing that would have changed his mind would have been an offer from LSU.
Quad is doing what's best for Quad. And I don't fault him for that. this has been a great thread and I'm gonna pull for Quad from here on out.

Good luck to him. LSU can't afford to just throw out offers to every QB that wants a spot. They have way to many studs at other positions this year that will fill this class. quad may end up developing into a very good QB, but IMO he is not what we are looking for in a QB in order to be elite.
He has a Justin McMillan look to me, redshirt and sit for 2-3 years and hope he develops into a great D-1 QB. IMHO, With Finley committed, Quad will never see the field here. Best for him to go where he can commit now

1. Lance Legendre.
2. David Baldwin.
3. Jacob Free.
4. Peter Parrish.
He came to camp and gave it a shot. I appreciate that he wants to be a Tiger, and came to camp and threw for the coaches. But I guess Ensminger didn't like what he saw, it happens. This is recruiting.

Good for him and you. You did all you could do but I could see from the beginning that E and his staff were slow playing him.

It’s June FFS. Kid is just now getting exposure. I don’t see Saban or other SEC coaches beating down this kids door...yet. Everybody wants instant gratification

Well yeah I don't disagree with any of that. Some kids are willing to wait the process out until the end. Quad would probably have to wait until February for premium school offers, which may or may not come.
Guess he wants more security, which I also understand. His job is to look out for his own interests, the school's job is to look out for theirs.
Our staff seems to always have eyes for QBs that we have small shot of landing, if I'm being honest.

Goldrush, I’ve always wondered, are you actually a Washington fan, or just an LSU fan with a different favorite team logo?
Totally irrelevant to this thread, but I know you’re always in here

Thanks for the update coach. Can you give us any information about his choice before the commitment date? I'm also curious if he's open to making a change down the road if any other better offers come in? Please keep the updates coming...thanks.

Coach, thanks for all your insightful posts and sharing Quad's journey with us. Wishing nothing but happiness and lots of success for Q. I support & respect this young man's decision in doing what's best for his long term future, not just 4-5 yrs of football. Would love to see him go to Duke, thrive on the gridiron, and then become a Rhodes scholar.
Just thinking out loud here ..... Based on Quad's offer list, UAB seems like it would be a good fit since it's an easy 30 minute drive and Quad would likely start for 4 years after his RS season. With the right coach and system, Blazer fans would forget who Joe Webb is.
However, I have a feeling Quad commits to Coach Neal Brown and TROY. Only a 1.5 hour drive from Calera as TROY has a respectable program and not afraid to play top-level P5 programs. QB coach Reagan is the real deal as his signal callers have improved each year and put up some very impressive numbers.
Very happy for this young man wherever he decides to pursue his dream. Kudos to you Coach for making a difference in young men's lives and helping them defeat adversity.

Let us know how he made his decision coach after he commits.
