i'm sure it is.... but LSU has always had this thing about prospects having to camp first before getting offers.... i have a feeling it's a money thing, as well as a recruiting limitation (how many times they contact a prospect, etc.) thing....

is it expensive to go to the camp?

$350 for athletes who camp overnight, I'd imagine it could cost some families $500+ to get their son on campus for LSU's elite FB camp

Coach.... no idea how Quad's family financial situation is and I won't ask. But if he does need any help paying for camp, drop a hint and I'll post my email for you so maybe we can get a gofundme going or something. I'm always broke but I love this story and really like everything you've said about Quad, so I'd throw in some change.

Would this be illegal in some kind of way? With the way the NCAA works, I would imagine so.

Yea can’t raise money. We don’t need to do that, but I appreciate the thought.

The camp I was referring to was the Rivals camp. I’ll just spill what I’ve been told since I see no reason at this point not to do so.

Quad is the QB for GasCrew which is an NPA 7V7 team. During the NPA Combine one of the Rivals reps that I have been speaking with told me he was going to be attending the event to get a look at Quad in person. He care, and we talked in depth about Quad. That’s when we got invited to 3 stripe.

He told me that Quad would be rated a low 4-Star, and that this rating would be released at the very latest right after the 3 Stripe Camp in Feb.

As most of you know, Quad plays basketball and his team went deep into the playoffs, so he opted out of the Feb 3 Stripe and is doing the 3 stripe in Nashville. He is also doing the Elite 11 competition.

I have followed up with Rivals several times about his rating and they just keep telling me it will he released soon or at the latest when he attends their camp. So basically they know his rating...but just won’t release it until they feel like it.

Regarding College Camps, Quad is going to attend the Mega Camp in Memphis so that he can be seen by several schools.

Coach Freeze and I are doing a QB-WR-DB camp in May followed up by a Spread Offense Coaches Clinic and Fund Raiser as well. All proceeds going to Inner City Youth Programs in Birmingham.

Quad will attend this camp as well.

Those are the events that I can tell you for sure he is attending

We are going to pick 3 more Power 5 camps for him to attend as well. We are making a final decision on which ones this week.

Arky visit is next week followed by Duke.

This scares me. Quads style and build remind me of Ryan Mallett. And Arky would be a great fit for Quad. I want him to be at LSU very much, but he could likely raise Arkansas from the grave and be a thorn in our side for two or three years. Especially if LSU doesn't get with the program and show Quad some serious love.

The way our luck with QBs has been, a kid with Quads high ceiling and higher floor is definitely worth sending some major love towards...

I think Arkansas is a team to consider for sure. He likes what Morris does on Offense. That being said I think GG ultimately ends up at Arkansas.

I had similar thoughts. Minus the meth and being dumb as a rock however. I'm sure we'll see more and more videos through camp season, I look forward to confirming the comparison. To have a Mallett arm, and accuracy, this is a no brainer.

Coach - Is he looking at North Carolina at all? Perhaps when going to Duke? His style would fit them nicely and they need a good QB badly.

Great Question about North Carolina. UNC has invited him to some stuff, but nothing real substantial as of now. Texts, calls, letters here and there.

Duke is for sure his leader at this point with LSU second. Duke is putting together a really good class, and Quad is very high on being developed by Cutcliffe. As am I. Of course the Duke education is important too. They literally text him every day.

CoachJG45,
The way I got LSU to look at my neighbor Lache Seastrunk was to upload a YouTube video of him and let the TigerDroppings.com Recruiting Board view it. You have to use YouTube do not use recruiting pay sites as you are here to help your friend get exposed and not exploited by pay sites. There are people on TigerDroppings.com that know coaches not just LSU coaches and if his video is good enough to catch just one of those recruit junkies it will be worth it. It wouldn't hurt to give a background of his connection to LSU or Louisiana ties.

Thanks Born to be a Tiger! I appreciate the advice. We are past that point really. He has a relationship with Coach Ensminger and a few of the staff now. Really at this point it’s about LSU pulling the trigger on an offer and my guess is that would come at camp if he camps there and if they offer.

I've always thought he was going to be a camp offer. And it isn't necessarily a reflection of priorities...

A) They HAVE to do their due dilligence; camps are great for this, especially such a hard position such as QB to project.

B) Often they like to do the offer ceremonies. It means alot to the recruit and the staff. Staff truly enjoys them. Better than mail, text, or even phone.

C) Don't forget, LSU (under Miles & Orgeron) often hold in-state offers. That is because in-state means more to them AND there are reputations/relationships to protect. If they are treating Quad in the same manner for this reason, it's a honor... not a slight. I know it's hard for the recruit to see, but it just means more.

When is the camp in May? And just curious why you think Gunnell goes to Arky? Tell Quad we are all pulling for him! He’s a great young man!

Its not a shoe in but Gunnell’s parents are Arky Alums and they got to know Chad Morris well while he recruited him at SMU. They like his Offense as well. LSU is definitely in it. In a perfect world we could get both, we need two QB’s in this class imo.

Yea if I had to guess GG would end up at Arkansas, but hey its recruiting. No one really knows what these kids are going to do unless you have a direct personal relationship.

We are just really focused on Quad continuing to get better every day, and letting the process play out.

Wow, talk about blast from the past. I remember Storm on the Lache talks - when Lache was gonna commit to LSU, and Storm Johnson drove in from South Florida on his birthday and tried to commit to LSU, but they didnt accept it.

How ya been Born? Also, now that enough time has passed, did you ever reveal what happened behind the scenes with Lache? Didnt he almost commit to Auburn and end up in Oregon or visa versa?
