I beat you to it.

But seriously, those guys were two sport stars and could have gone to college to play both sports. Gathers hasn't played football since middle school, as far as I know.

These posts make you wonder whether posters have any clue regarding the forwards we've had over the past ten years, their productivity at LSU, and subsequent NBA careers. Total nonsense.

Hell Julius Peppers played guard at UNC.
It was power forward, but point made.

Was he? I thought he was at least a SF. Didn't realize it was PF.

Gates and Gonzalex were multi-sport studs, but Graham's high school didn't even have a football team.

Yeah I am pretty sure that Graham did not play football until his senior year at the U. They talked about it yesterday how NFL teams are starting to look at undersized(6'4 - 6'6) college basketball players or players that might not be good enough to make it in the NBA but can make the change to the TE position.

I don't even think Antonio Gates played at Kent State. He played in high school i think.

He played at Kent St. He led them to the Elite 8. He was a baller.

I think he meant football. He (Gates) was going to Michigan State to play both, but Saban told him it was football only or nothing. I don't even know if Saban would have coached him at Mich St.

Gathers decommiting has been going around for a while.Supposedly not pleased with some dirty tactics by Lavin & co.They are going to get St. John's put on probation before they're done. They're too open with their shady tactics. It seems that everyone knows what they're doing. It's pretty hard to stir up concern in college basketball recruiting and somehow Lavin is doing it.

That said, he'd most likely get immediate playing time at LSU.

In college, players like this excel ALL THE TIME.

It won't be his size that determines his success...it will be his skill set to go along with his athleticism (which is unquestioned).

has St. John's lost some of their mojo after losing most of their big name 2011 recruits to academic struggles?

i think some of it is this. that said i still think it is either st. john's or texas but if he comes ot lsu i'll be pleasantly surprised and obviously thrilled.

not surprised to hear he was at a game. i saw greg monroe at a couple games before and after he committed to georgetown.

He may decommit but this seems like weak reasoning. If he was uncomfortable with Lavin's recruiting tactics why would he commit there in the first place? And why would he drag his feet in decommitting?

Wrong about Graham. He Played HS football his Freshmen and Soph years. He then transferred to a school that did not have football. He was still getting letters for both sports during high school but had big time offers for football. He wanted to play football over basketball but he was forced to transfer. They did a complete story a few weeks back on tv on JGraham.

So getting the top player in the state could somehow be bad?

I don't get it.
