it was mentioned a few days ago about this player from Crowley being a preferred walk-on. thought this was a pretty good read...considering the drama of the past 48 hrs. or so.

“Playing for LSU was something that I always wanted to do,” said Fruge. “Everybody told me I never could do it and I never could make it there so I made it a goal to work towards.”

“I had offers from just about every school in the state but I knew where I was going from the beginning,” said Fruge.

Good for the kid. Nice story, thanks for posting.
After getting deceived by some recruits, it's nice to see a kid that bleeds purple and gold and will do anything to play for LSU.
Although we don't have the benefits of Texas so we can't do exactly like Mack Brown does, I do think we should start focusing more of our efforts on kids with an attidue like this kid ... an attitude of "LSU or bust."

the future of LSU football looks great! As long as we can attract this caliber of walk-on we will be just fine. Great post! I feel better already.

Fruge is my new favorite LSU player. Loyalty and passion for LSU - that is what it is all about.

Reminds me of when Texas' fullback (for when they actually used a fullback in an I and not a DT) walked on at Texas instead of taking a full ride to Texas Tech

We need to make sure Fruge gets some fan appreciation on game day...

He sounds like a kid that went to Evangel. What was his name?

pretty wise move on his part though. Probably better for him long term to get a degree from LSU vs one at one of the smaller La. schools

Thanks for the link !! It takes a special young man to be this devoted and determined. Hopefully, he earns a scholarship.

I would love that. Why not? Oh no, it might bring down our recruiting rank. He turned down scholarships to walk-on at the school he loved. I bet he will play with a little more passion than the others. This is awesome.

Will we be able to see this passion on the field?

This is one of the nicest kids I've ever met. He is a genuinely good guy and I'm happy that he is getting to live out a dream. It's funny to hear all the big time players shy away from working hard to beat out competition and here is a kid who is coming in knowing that he is going to work his tail off and maybe not even get on the field. Great story.
