I believe Sonny Shipp at 247 said you have to be in the transfer portal by February 1 to transfer to an SEC school or you have to be a grad student if you are not you have to sit out the year

I think the in conference transfer rule is pretty shitty. If you grow up in the southeast and you don’t get the opportunity you were promised at your first choice SEC school, you have to move half way across the country to play the next year OR go to inferior schools from the ACC or some other crap school in your native area. I call BS

Honestly, I’m happy with the depth we have for this year so if you can convince this guy to come here and sit one year to start in 2023, would gladly take him as one of our last 3 spots for 2022. He’d be a 5 star tackle with 3 to play 3.

Are you new to football or recruiting? Sometimes schools/staffs make promises to recruits that they don’t follow through with. Wouldn't be the first time regardless of stars. We don’t know his situation but for a 2021 5 star OT to transfer after barley one year, clearly he and UGA were not on the same page.

Kirby was praising Mims' progress just this week.
He is being told that he needs to start this year in order to make it to the NFL. Georgia is not willing to guarantee that right now. Simple as that.
