Saw him against St. Paul’s last night. Here goes:

First the positives:

His size
Ball comes out quick from his hand
Arm strength

Negatives:
Accuracy- he is widely inaccurate. Receivers don’t help him much but he has a ton of improvement in this area

Demeanor- I watched this a lot from beginning until end of the game. He is lackadaisical out there. He never hustles on or off the field. He walks to the huddle from the sideline and does not hustle off.

He also doesn’t not appear to be fiery in trying pick his guys up.

Does not seem to be a leader. I saw him to be kind of Ho hum just sitting in the pocket. Almost like hey I got a scholly to LSU and I’m just going to take a stroll and sling this ball out there.

Saw him on the RPO, run twice the whole game. He’s 6’7” 225 lbs. he should be able to plow kids and get 5 yds ever time to keep a drive alive. I didn’t see him want to initiate contact at all. Almost like he doesn’t want to get hurt. Definitely doesn’t appear to want to lay it on the line for his team.

Overall:

Very raw. Has the tangible skills and physical traits. But can you change a kids’ attitude to have others want to got to war with him, i don’t know? I think there are kids with lesser physical talents that have the intangibles to lead that can do better.

How many times have you seen him live? Is this just a one game observation/opinion?

First time in person. I have seen all of the highlights. Was expecting a lot more. Than i realized highlights are highlights and don’t tell the whole story.

I was expecting ALOT more.

Well if you find a quarterback out there the tries to initiate contact like a running back I don’t think his career would be very long

I wouldn't either if we're giving up 50+ and 72 in back to back weeks.

What was the final score? Something like 70 to 7. This team is demoralized right now. King Kong couldn't pick them up. The surrounding talent, is just not there. Little details like that are important when talking about a 16 year olds demeanor.

I heard the STM kid, Holstein, was at the LSU camp that Finely went to and Holstein outperformed Finely. The coaches had told the Holstein family that a decision on who to offer could come from that evaluation and they ended up offering Finely instead. I know there is a big difference in their offer list and the recruiting agencies have Finely rated higher. I haven't personally seen Holstein or Finely play but, with LSU's QB history, this could be another big mistake offer.

It doesn’t help that his team is getting demolished every week.

Jamie Howard’s son (Walker Howard) is a freshman at STM. Will be a big time QB recruit in a couple years. Saw him make some amazingly accurate throws as an 8th grader last year.
