I would rather get Robinson as the dline coach than any one player. He would make up with his own recruiting.

This is all true, however the main factor in all of this is stability. When a head coach is fired recruiting takes a hit, due to the unknown.

The "stability" in the program is still there. It's the cash and they met with recruits and players today to flex that the cash is still flowing.

If A&M is forking out $76million, then you won’t see a contract like Jimbo again.

They're not shelling out $76 million to buy Jimbo out to go bargain shopping for his replacement. They may whiff on the next hire, but I don't think it will be because the cheaped out.

May be in the minority but I’m not a fan of the Jimbo firing. He was just about to crumble and the recruiting class was about to fall through. I think this gives them new life but what do I know.

You are 100% not in the minority and I do t know why people keep acting like it’s a good thing. The longer he was there the better it would be for us.

Do not overlook Dan Lanning leaving Oregon after this year. He is a great recruiter and a Southern Boy, that I'm sure would love to get closer to home at program with lots to offer.

Nix is leaving as well. ATM still had a good portion of the "paid class" not leave so he could do wonders there and big a problem for us.

Someone explain this “Dan Lanning, the Southern Boy” narrative.

Dude is from MO, played football at a small school there, and has coached in the PAC (AZ St and Oregon), ACC (Pitt), SEC and some FCS/G5 too. That doesn’t immediately scream Southern Boy to me… so what am I missing?

I'd be shocked to see him leave that setup. Their going to the big 10, where the easy games are MUCH easier (Rutgers, mich st, northwestern, Indiana, minn, Iowa can't score a pt, wiscy is in the dumps, Illinois, Nebraska, purdue vs sec average athlete).

Oregon can pay just as much to retain, and they've shown an ability to load up the war chest for top end recruits. I'd be shocked if he would go to atm. It's a similar situation to Oregon, just with a much tougher path.

Will say atm sec schedule is cake next yr compared to most. No uga, bama, ou.

Well, having graduated from LSU and growing up in Oregon. I know most people in Louisiana think north of I10 is Northerners. Believe it or not Missouri is considered part of the South. Texas is closer to Missouri for family reasons but I just believe the bag he is offered is going to be something he can not pass up.

Now, I do agree with the argument that staying in the Big10 alot easier to make college playoff next year than going or coming to the SEC. But, if you feel you can coach and you have stones between your legs where would you rather be??? .....it's easy ATM. Look, I bleed purple and gold so I'm hoping he stays in Eugene.

If y’all thought all of those recruits were going to A$M because of Jimbo, you will be dissapointed. They only went because of the money and to be a part of the gay cult culture.

I agree, and given what these "studs" have accomplished at aggie makes me question why we want any of them.

Lazy-assed $-chasers. All of em.

Name a slam dunk hire out there.

There isn’t one.

two guys scare me with that job... Lane Kiffen and Jeff Traylor, either would be slam dunks... Jeff Traylor is the next Art Briles (in a good way) my dad coached with him and basically said he was Nick Saban on offense...

There really isn't, and the thinking coming out of A&M is they can get the same or better results at half the price. Which to be fair is probably correct.

I don't even want to speculate on who they should hire. There are quite a few guys that I think would do incredibly well at A&M.

History has shown that for whatever reason, they either cant get the guy they want, or the guy they want just doesn't work out.
