Does anyone know why over the course of a year he dropped from a 5* to nearly a 3*?

I only know what i've read on this board, but my understanding was that he played both ways his senior year, and due to his offensive responsibilities (think he scored damn near 20 TDs as a WR), his play slipped on defense. The poor play led to a decrease in his ranking.

Make no doubt about it, this kid is a high four-star recruit.

He is a 3 star in the 247 rankings. They moved him up about 100 spots, but he is still at 591. He's a 4 star on the composite.

I watched Major Burns play he was not a 4* player imo. He played both ways but was still ranked as a 4*

I would just like to point out that his twitter handle is @nudiemcglothern. I sincerely hope his nickname is "Nudie"

Had to play WR and CB as a SR. He then showed out in the all star game with 2 INTs and a pick 6. He's a lot closer to that 5* than 3*.

I'm not saying at all that 247's evaluation was correct; i'm just saying that that's my understanding of what their evaluation was

Again, I'm not saying 247 was right to drop him; I'm specifically just saying that that's the reason I heard for them dropping him

He had some injuries that plagued him his senior year. Kid is a ball hawk. 15 career int's in high school. 6 his SR. year and 2 in the all American game. 1 of those was a pick 6.

Aggie fans are convinced he didn't come to TAMU bc he was on his phone a lot on his visit and Jimbo pulled his offer. Lol

Who cares?

Dwight McGlothern tore it up in the All-American allstar game.

WEST SQUAD
Top Performers

2. Dwight McGlothern (25) - After announcing for LSU in the first quarter, the first declaration during the game, McGlothern then went out and showed why LSU made a late run for him, with two interceptions including a 38-yard pick-six of Evan Prater to put the game out of reach for the West. McGlothern also added a pass breakup and two tackles."

It was a combination of things, but the biggest knock was his speed and his refusal to test at camps.

He didn’t slip on defense. He’s just been to multiple schools and played against sub par competition his junior year at a private school.

He was the anchor on one of the best defenses in Texas this year. I don’t think he gave up a TD all year. He virtually shut down our (Rockwall) 5 star receiver that went to Ohio St.
