So help me out. Is there still an early signing date in addition to a signing date? Is it still a letter of intent or an NIL contract?

December 4th - December 6th is early signing period i believe.

It’s a scholarship agreement now, and it’s December 18th this year…lasts for a couple of days.
Players are expected to get NIL agents these days…which are free, but you’re ultimately tied to them if you go pro. That’s seems like a future clusterfrick.

It does. Believe the portal window begins the 18th and is shorter.

Is this really true?
If you hire an nil agent you have to stick with them while going pro? I find that very hard to believe.

That is 100% the expectation. Not sure how that would be enforced though.
Maybe it’s just the way the lawyer contact we were given operates. When the professional coach tells you that’s the deal…that’s the deal. Definitely not a business to burn bridges in.
Wife and I feel awkward to sic a lawyer on the school…and we haven’t reached out…but there may come a time. I’ve been told you don’t, as a dad, want to be in there alone. The lawyer is much more professional. Everything has a value…even if it’s equal to WR5 on the team.
Does the WR1 stick with his guy, probably not…WR5 needs all the help he can get to get into the league.

You don't HAVE to, but that is the general expectation from the agents. Rife for abuse and not in the players best interest at all, but hey, when greed and money is the top priority for society, that's what you get.
