It's only a minor violation IF, you are a booster or a season ticket holder... per NCAA.
The NCAA wants it to be a violation for a school to have fans???? It is completely outside of the school's control.

Recruits obviously love the attention and followers, so how can that hurt.

I am not a booster nor a season ticket holder...I am just a die hard fan like the rest of you.

Thanks for understanding where I was trying to come from , LSUbest. People get on here and start running off at the mouth before fully digesting what my main point was.

Quit trying to be a super fan and let the coaches do their job.

You're a creep, stop monitoring high school kids social pages

I haven't tweeted any players but I'll sometimes give a "COME TO LSU" type response on their highlight videos.

I don't think it's going to Hurt anything. It's good to know they have fan support an know that the fans want him. Doesn't necessarily make it a game changer but doesn't hurt.

It's the same as going to a game and after telling a player good job your gonna make it big one day. Encouraging a kid, but with the LSU name. Your fine, don't let some Internet big shot sway your fan hood.

Grown dudes seeking out high school boys doesn't strike you as creepy?

All the coaches that not only seek, but suck up to them in the name of recruiting, are down right creepy!
It's the new age and kids love attention (who doesn't?!). Give them their 15 minutes of fame as a recognition for their hardwork so far and for many, it will be the highlight of their lives.
Embrace tweets an re-tweets!

I think these kids like the attention (I mean, look at the way some of these guys announce where they're going to play) I don't think letting them know that the fans are excited for them to come here is a bad thing, as long as you're not being a super stalker. As far as the ones saying he's a pedophile, I think you guys are being a little extreme. It's not like he's offering to blow them if they choose LSU. If you are, then yes, that's really creepy.

He said it hasn’t helped, however, that people have been pressuring him to commit to USC

You do realize its a social network and 90% of the people on their page they never met?

I've got a Facebook page but don't take friend requests from anyone I don't know, even the really hot girls.

Hell, I've got fraternity brothers, co-workers and people I went to high school with that I don't accept.

Seems like Twitter is the is very good fro getting info on recruiting fast and free but I don't know about sending the recruits tweets.

i think that it's wrong to think every recruit wants fans tweeting him. Some might but it may have just the opposite effect on others.

Read this about a guy LSU is recruiting yesterday and in my mind if you've tweeted him, you should stop.

One thing he said that was key to USC winning him over was him getting more comfortable with the program and spending more time there, which he’ll have ample opportunity to do. He said it hasn’t helped, however, that people have been pressuring him to commit to USC.

Ti's going to vary with kids. You mentioned reading Gilmore likes the attention. Make sure they all do before doing it again.

If you are over 21 I would stop completely but that's just me.

Does Tweeting Recruits Help or Hurt Us? I am guilty of tweeting GG and RN various LSU stuff to show LSU in a good light...especially YouTube highlights. I got retweeted by Gilmore a few times..I always end it with #DLineU. Im sure they like the attention because I see alot of fans tweeting them...especially our fans. For the record, I am not stalking recruits or anything of the sort. I just want to help LSU get them to commit. So, do you think it helps? Just sent them this one Defensive Highlights

The last part, helping the staff recruit is the part that I have a problem with. That is not your job, and you will do nothing to help possibly only hurt.

Once a player commits, if you want to say welcome on board, that is fine. But, to actually try an recruit a player?

I think it only hurts a school with a recruit when it gets negative, like when a high profile LA recruit chooses the arch rival over the home state and all the home state fans go ape shite at him over twitter. Otherwise, its all in fun.

I would say that players tweeting (stupid private stuff) has done more damage to themselves and the schools they attend than fans tweeting have damaged a player/recruits opinion.

Some of you need a refresher on the definition of "booster" (as far as the NCAA is concerned.)

In point of fact I'm pretty sure 99% of you do qualify as boosters, and whether or not the NCAA is able to enforce its many insane/inane rules, tweeting recruits before they've signed an NLI is in fact illegal. Ask your compliance office.

Everything matters. You just will never know if you hurt LSU or not.
You wont get a twitter calling you out on ESPN.

Oh, yeah, the kid twits: "I would have kept the LSU hat on, but that Duckie fan of LSU drove me crazy and I could not stand the thought of his arse bugging me for the next 3 to 5 years." some of that, in 40 chars.

I can see it now. You get your 15 minutes on ESPN's website.
they poll the fans nationwide, to ask whether its you or Sandusky, is the biggest douche. You win Louisiana and Nebraska.
