i would want my kid to learn what he knows... and i would tell my son that... what he knows is what made him successful... who he is is another matter... and honestly, i have no earthly idea who he is... he could be an asswhipe or a nice guy, id let my kid figure that out...

No, I don’t want him coaching my son.

I understand Alabama is where coaches go to rehab their career. That Works for Kiffin. That might work for Butch Jones. When the coach killed a kid it is an unnecessary risk.

Correct me if I am wrong. A player died during summer workouts. A head coach and position coaches are not allowed to have any contact with the players during the conditioning periods. The coach relies on the strength and conditioning staff to oversee the training. I don’t know what any head coach or position coach could possibly do to prevent this type of tragedy. It seems like the training staff failed the playa d his family.

Saban's program aint gonna kill a kid.

Not on his own team, but with the way they lead with their heads, it’s only a matter of time for an opponent to be killed or maimed.

Hire competent staff?

The trainers told the kid to stop being a pu$$y while he died.

Your narrative is off base. He likely was instrumental in creating the culture on his staff that allowed it to happen. I'm not turning a blind eye on this guy.

Maryland hired training consultant Rod Walters to review the football staff's handling of Jordan McNair's illness and subsequent death after a conditioning workout. Among the findings:

-- McNair became ill after the first conditioning drill, 10 110-yard sprints.
-- It took 34 minutes after McNair started showing symptoms of heatstroke for the medical staff to remove him from the field, 67 minutes to call 911 and 99 minutes before he left in an ambulance.
-- Maryland head coach DJ Durkin was at the workout and on the field. Durkin was not involved in the medical treatment of McNair.
-- Multiple players told Walters’ team that one Maryland athletic trainer yelled some variation of “DRAG HIS arse ACROSS THE FIELD” while McNair was struggling.

IMHO, Durkin is a POS.

Even a genuine makes idiot mistakes! Saban is a idiot hiring this guy!
I don't think so. Saban transcends the general rules, including those of hiring people of less than reputable character.

He hired Sark. And Kiffin. And those decisions turned out to be ones he was praised for. Give it a year, and watch this go the exact same way, even more so when Durkin is promoted from analyst to assistant.

Remember, this isn't the norm. This is Nick Saban. He's brilliant and plays both the long game and the short game. I would love to be able to point out huge mistakes he's made, but he's the King Midas of CFB Program building and Championship winning.

Probably his only monumental mistake of the past 20 years was leaving LSU for the Dolphins.

He is not the only kid ever to die in football. Would love to have DJ Durkin at LSU supporting our defensive game

I think this situation has gotten out of hand. Does he deserve to be punished? Yes, but I don't agree with him losing his job. Maybe suspend for half the season without pay or something like that. I hate that a young man lost his life, but it wasn't like the coach was out to kill him. It's football and on any given play someone risks getting severely injured. Look at all the NFL players who are committing suicide or are having severe health problems due to football. Football is violent and there's just no getting around it. The reality is if we really wanted to be safe, we would outlaw football! It's violent and dangerous! Period!
