My dad used to live in Hawaii in 70s and 80s and recruit for a rival SEC school years later. He used to talk about the big Samoans that were just naturally built like linebackers or defensive lineman, and strong as an bull. He used to talk about someone teaching them to play football and what a force they could be. Then he quipped “Probably even up at GD LSU, since they were like island Cajuns.” (Love food, music, full of zest for life, very family oriented, and were generally Catholic back them. )

This is a pipeline we need to get going baws. Hawaiians are nature fit for South Louisiana as wierd as that sounds.

I lived in a Samoan neighborhood in Los Angeles and they had a church down the street from my apartment. It was interesting because on Sunday they would attend services in traditional garb. Some huge people that's for sure and it definitely wouldn't hurt to have a few on the team.

I agree.... Plus look at the QBs that come through there sometimes. RB/FB/TE/LB/DL/OL are all positions that come out of there regularly and we should jump on it. Don't let any other SEC team be the first and you know who I'm mainly talking about.

Those guys playing with a team like LSU would help them also. LSU is a better program then people realize. We aren't where we need to be for consistency but we aren't far off and I think we could win a championship here and there even on the pace we on now. Pick that pace up just a bit and we'll be consistently in it.

I don't think O wants to settle. He wants to be the most dominant team in the country. He wants it to be LSU and Bama then everyone else. Then eventually out last Saban. I believe that if Saban starts to lose to LSU again, he'll be done. Once his stress levels rise to a certain degree he will quit.

Mormon, that makes sense too. I guess the guys he was friends with were catholic. I only meet a few of them but remind me a lot of Cajuns. Give you shirt off their back people, and nearly break your damn spine when they give you big friendly island hug etc.

My Dad you to rag me on my teens about my fanatic weightlifting, saying I could lift 4 hours a day, and their boys would still throw me around like a rag doll and they never been near a weight room in their lives. (And he was right)

LSU needs to send in the Catholic missionaries to reclaim our Islanders from the likes of Utah and BYU

the amount of talent at St Louis high school and Punahou high school is unreal. i went to the jamboree in august and was very surprised. I wouldnt say they could beat U high but I bet they could both be 2nd place in the state behind U high

How old are some of you because the logic some of you display is juvenile at best.

A player or 2 comes out of Hawaii and all of a sudden some of you think Hawaii is some football recruiting hotbed. It isn't.

A full-time recruiter for Hawaii is stupid. How many recruits from Hawaii end up in the NFL? Curently there are 6 players born in Hawaii playing in the NFL. Now how many from Louisiana do? How many from Texas? How many from Mississippi? Alabama? Florida?

So where do we compromise to put a full time recruiter in friggin' Hawaii for that level of talent production?

Honestly, some of the questions asked on this board are lacking sound logic.

I guess I could volunteer for that job. I could be a team player and move to Hawaii, if needed.

After seeing Fehoko’s dad do the the haka with him, I’m pretty sure he will eventually be that guy. I’m guessing he must be living stateside now since he is attending all the games. But you KNOW he has connections there and will spread the word when he returns. It could provide dividends, however remote a possibility.

RELAX... you’re wound up a little too tight here. Agreed, the premise of sending a full time staff “recruiter” is NEVER going to happen. But in the sense of shadow staff, it could have some merit. Think along the lines of a “missionary” to share goodwill and news about the culture of S LA and LSU football, using Fehoko (and his dad) as the center of that message.

They may not have the total numbers but per capita you'd be surprised.

People here freak out just about every time a Louisiana recruit chooses to go to an out-of-state school.

Hawaii should be trying to put a fence up. They would be one of the top five if not the best team in the nation if they kept their players.

Tua at Bama, Jordan Ta'amu at Ole Miss and McKenzie Milton at UCF are three of the best QB's in the nation and are all from Hawaii.

That's just QB's. Hawaii would be awesome if the majority of their guys stayed in state.

The ones who lived around me were mostly Methodists. When I played rugby in California we played a team called the Orange County Islanders. They performed the Haka before every match and were tough as hell. The league ended up banning them because of their dirty play. These guys come from a warrior culture where people are regularly killed while playing rugby for their villages. They were a "take no prisoners" bunch.
