In fact he was winning and the tigers were improving until he fired his very good DC
I'm pretty sure Texas hired Carl Reese away from LSU. Dinardo didn't fire him. And Dinardo did get a lot of NFL talent in to LSU that Saban inherited. Most people tend to forget that and give Saban all the credit.

Jarvis Reado, Nilo Sylvan- Tenn
Posted on 12/5/13 at 11:02 am to higgins
I played with a top prospect named Billy Beron at Rummel who followed Peyton to Tenn. Started out good but then got hurt. Peyton helped recruit him, Nilo Sylvan, and Jarvis Reado the following year to Tenn. But back then a lot of top players were leaving LA. Raynoch Thompson did play at St. Aug along with Roland Seymour (highly touted DT who went to FSU). I played against some really good players at Rummel in the 90s including David Butler, Rondell Mealey, and Warrick Dunn and Kevin Franklin but the best high school team I ever saw or played against was the Shaw teams from 90-93. All of these names from Shaw went out of state over that 3yr stretch and to this day I cannot understand how they didn't win state at least 1x (Pat Riley, Carlos Jones, and Eugene Ridgley all went to Miami, Jeff Chassion went to Arizona, Chuckie Parquet went to UNC, Reado to Tenn as mentioned, a really good LB named Charlie something followed Kendell Bussey to Colorado (speaking of Colorado don't forget about Kordell Stewart being from Ehret)...BTW...Bussey and Chris Ryan from Sulpher were both men playing among infants (note even boys) I think one of our Rummel DBs is still laying on the ground from the Bus running him over)...and I just got up from Chris Ryan running me over in the playoffs....So to answer your question a ton of talent left LA in the 90s and it was Dinardo that started to right the ship that Saban built on....

to this day, i think that Kevin Faulk's decision to remain in state and come to LSU is the single most important factor as to where LSU is today…. i am convinced that without Faulk coming here, we are NO WHERE CLOSE to being what we have come to know of LSU now….

I think the Charlie you were thinking of was Charlie Camp, who went to Arizona, not CU. there was a LB from Ehret that went to CU, whose name escapes me, though.

he left Saban with a good number of NFL players from the state (Ryan Clark, Jarvis Green, Trev Faulk, Bradie James, etc.)
So what you're saying is Saban won with Dinardo's players?

You know it wasn't just missing on big name recruits. The evaluation was also weak during the Mike Archer and Curley Hallman years. Patrick Surtain was a pro bowl corner who didn't get an offer and went to Southern Miss. Jake Delhomme a pro bowl QB who didn't get an offer and went to Lafayette. Ashley Ambrose and Aeneas Willaims, both HOF candidates, neither one offered at LSU (Williams was a converted basketball player in college though). Pat Willaims, Troy Edwards, Michael Pittman, all these guys played a lot of NFL downs but never one for LSU, mostly because they were missed out of high school and went to smaller schools. Now, some guys are late bloomers, but with LSU recruiting in the Archer Hallman and DiNardo years this was too frequent to be just bad luck.

I know you guys know more.

93 destrehan was better....and had the breaks
92 - they GOT ROBBED TWICE IN ONE GAME
91 I am pretty sure this was the year they had two kids die after school on the day of the final regular season game - they later lost in the first round - kids were spent and drained
90 round 2 with Thib.... strange two games two years in a row with them....
89 and 97 teams were unreal.... 91 got beat 41-0.... that year by curtis
