In looking at the 247 recruiting rankings, Clemson has verbal commitments from the top three defenive tackles in the country, Bresse, Capeheat and Williams. That’s crazy. In the 2018 cycle they had two five star defensive linemen and two high four stars. This year they had an amazing three defensive linemen go in the NFL first round. It’s no magic secret why they are winning. In addition to having top QBs over the last few years, including the best freshman qb in the country last year, Clemson has been dominating in the trenches.

Orgeron is working on a potentially great class this year. Jaquelin Roy is the 4th ranked defensive tackle and Jacobisn Guillory the 11th.p Unfortunately fir LSU, while Orgeron has recruited well during his tenure, his misses have largely been on the defensive line. And he has been only marginally better getting top talent on the o line.

Roy and Guillory are must gets in this class if we want to keep pace with the big boy teams in the trenches. If we miss on one of these guys, McKinnley Jackson becomes the must get. Our highest rated recruit on the d line has been Shelvin, and his inability to control his weight makes him a disappointment thus far. I hope it’s true he has trimmed down. And I hope Ika is a player, the early reports on him have been good. He was the 14 ranked DT last year. Both Clemson and Bama has higher rated defensive tackles in their 2019 class.

Love the input baw, but this has been said upwards of 100 times on this board. The Clemson dlineman is probably something new said on this board, but Clemson is not LSU. I will say, the fact that Clemson has the top 3 rated dlineman committed for this class is shameful for O regardless of how good this class is shaping up to be. It’s head scratching to say the least, given O’s background.

Clemson has the #1 qb for the next 2 years, just won a championship, and they pay more than we do. It's not rocket science. Did you not pay attention to the recent trial. Clemson is paying for those linemen. Very simple.

I also think their recent success winning championships over Alabama has a lot to do with it they haven’t been consistently bringing in top 5 recruiting classes every year until recently

Hey man, thanks for reminding me how many guys on this site bounce around pissing on people’s opinions with tired smack.

I swear, there must be fifty of you guys on here who sit at their computer all day waiting to make some wise arse crack about someone posting in a topic that has been discussed before.

Maybe you guys could get together and get out a good list of things we can talk about.

They have some good posters on here, but I am always amazed by the number of posters who think being rude is like a cool thing. Were you guys raised by wolves or something? lol. How is being a jerk to someone you don’t even know fun? Oh well, I knew that’s how it works on here when I posted.

All true. And we need to pay more. The folks who have the money to make serious contributions to TAF need to do so. Those individual boosters behind the funny money need to pony up and maintain creativity and find new ways of covering up. Just win baby and do what we got to do. Just don't get caught or make 'strong arse offer' comments on fricking wiretaps!

We are but we have been outbid in recent years. The richer programs are paying premium for impact positions like LT, DL and QB. They up the ante and we have been outbid.

Now with the recently successful 2018 season and the purge that is about to happen certain roadblocks are being removed. Money people who were doubting if it was worth to invest in something that was being held back are coming around. Then we will go back to the kind of recruiting we have been doing this year and 2000-2011.

It's funny to me that Clemson is at the top now because it was LSU that put them there. Lol They beat LSU in that bowl game (Chik-fil-A bowl I think) awhile back, and they have never looked back turning into a powerhouse program after that historic win for them. They barely beat a terrible, conservative offensively challenged Les Miles team back then, but it made them believe in themselves that they could now play with the big boys. Flash forward to today's program and how the mighty(LSU) have fallen. LSU can get all of that back by just winning another NC, but easier said then done, right? Lol LSU hasn't really fallen that far off the course, they just can't beat Alabama anymore it seems, and as a result it has had an effect on them. LSU has to beat Alabama and Saban, no way around that, Alabama is in their heads right now. You win championships and recruiting and all of that stuff becomes easy again.

This is why I post on this board a lot less than I used to. I've never seen a more negative forum on the internet.

After Mett missed the wide open receiver six yards away on that critical third down that would have put the game on ice.

What? That was probably the best offensive team we've had in the past 15 years! Some of y'all I wonder if you just started following LSU last year.

Either you're talking about the team following the year after that Chik-Fil-A bowl game when Cameron took over and Mettenberger went ballistic in passing the ball to OBJ and JL or you're the damn one that's just started following LSU football. LOL Because there's no way in hell that team was LSU's best offensive team in the last 15 years! Lmao

Dabo knows exactly what it takes to win championships, and he's not afraid to buy it. To get the shear numbers of DTs they are getting, it's clear they are currently paying the most for that position group.

I was at that game. Clemson beat our offensive tackles over and over again that game. The Clemson QB and his receivers made a bunch of plays in the second half. Anyway ancient history

Since everyone is buying players, or so it is said, maybe he is playing a numbers game with dline.....keeping the gems and processing the non contributors.
