Darius Winston info.....

OK, I have finally gotten a little info on Darius Winston. I talked to someone who would know about his situation. Darius has decided where he will attend college. My understanding is that the four main players are Arkansas, Michigan, Ole Miss and LSU. Apparently, Darius has been a long time Razorback fan and wears Razorback gear almost daily. He was approached early by Petrino and jumped on the chance to sign with them because he had not gotten other offers. Then recruiters started showing up by the boatload and he started getting offers. He realized that some big time programs were actually interested in him and he backed off of his commitment from Arkansas. Apparently he has narrowed the list, weighed all of his options and made a final decision. He is being very quiet about what he decided and is setting up a Presser at Central High School for Sept 5th. I'm not sure who all will be there but I understand their will be some media. I just got this info and thought I would pass it on to those hungry for some recruiting info.

Just to see the Hog meltdown, I wish he would say Ole Miss. The whole state would be under suicide watch.

The guy thought he would wind up at Arkansas but admitted that it might just be wishful thinking. The thing I found interesting was that he backed off the commit because "better" programs made offers. I find it funny that he even mentions Ole Miss and feel that is probably because of Houston Nutt knowing about him. I believe his dad lives down in Florida and he has family in Helena. I just cannot see him going to Michigan and the comment about "better schools" rules out Ole Miss to me. I say it is between LSU and Arkansas. This is only speculation.

I live here in Eastern Arkansas and spoke to someone who deals with him every day. He was somewhat optimistic but said the kid has stopped giving any indication of school preference. He said he will not tell anyone and has made it clear that his FINAL choice will be announced Sept 5th. The guy that I talked to is a Hog through and through. He said that it would not surprise him if he chose one of the other schools but hoped he would be a HOG>

We were a while back and then we stopped being mentioned. The guy I spoke to was naming off the schools it was narrowed to and he said LSU is one of them.

it's between ole miss and ark. he's attending the memphis/ole miss game BTW. i think he ends upa rebel.

One of two things here since I heard he's committing the day after the Ole Miss game...
A. Either he's really going to commit to Ole Miss and is this genuinely interested
or
B. Recruiting tactic to make Nutt look bad (seriously, go to the fmr. Arkansas head coaches game, then commit to his fmr. school the next day?)

Then maybe he is choosing Arkansas. My guess would be that this is the case but intentions to attend games can change. I'm just relaying info from someone who would know more than anyone on this board. I don't know what his choice is and apparently noone else does either. What I can say is that he de-committed from ARkansas when he found out "better" programs were interested. This means he is not as solid as I would have thought he would be.

i may be underestimating him, but i highly doubt he has the masterplan you desrcibed in plan b in mind.

They play Ole Miss Oct 25th. He's making his final decision in 2 weeks.

I haven't read his updates and I had not heard it announced that he has a presser Sept 5th. Has this been announced? He has most definitely made his decision according to this source and other rumors I've heard around town.
